Simply put, In terms of sheer volume, Giant Sequoias are the largest trees on the planet. These titans of the Western Sierras live to be thousands of years old, and grow to sizes that need to be seen to be believed. Mature Sequoias have bark that can grow to be as thick as three feet. The red armor allows these trees to survive forest fires, insect infestation and fungi. Surprisingly, Sequoias don't die from old age. They have an extensive, but extremely shallow root system, which means the majority of mature giant sequoias die simply from falling. Pictured here, four giant seqoias burn bright with the setting sun. These particular trees are part of the General Grant Grove, Just a stones throw away from the General Grant tree... the second largest tree in the world.

Very nice shot! Although a little grainy, it still works nicely. Optical illusiony.

The balance between colors and lines in this pic is enchanting. And the manipulation on colors is really pleasant as you've said, nice !

S'ok, your drive to get to those buildings, is probably the same length it takes to get from my town, down to that particular Redwood grove XD ....a good 45 on the highway, and another 20 once on the Avenue of the Giants side-road ^__^

Hee hee, no not even close lol. I think it's nine hours by train, and 6 and a half by car. My hubby and I mapped it out because I desperately want to go to the White plains reptile show
