The sun has not yet broken the horizon to the east, but already the sky above the Sneffels Range is aglow with color. A major fall storm moved through overnight, leaving these stunning peaks with their first major snow of the year. The valleys far below Mt. Sneffels, one of Colorado's 54 "Fourteeners, and the namesake of this sub-range of the San Juan Mountains are still exploding with the colors of autumn, and the sounds of bugling elk.

I love shooting from that spot. I assume this is a stitched pano? If that's true, what stitching software did you use or did you do it manually?

Wow, the foliage colors are completely unexpected to me. The image looks unbelievably sharp; feels intimate despite the expanse.

This foreground is too busy for my taste. I definitely prefer your similar shots with alpine meadow foregrounds.
