I hate to be critical of your work but there is this one light spot to the right of the bird. It looks like either sensor dust of maybe a snow flake but it really seems to stickout to me. Other than than this shot is awesome.

The striking blue is wonderful, but what I really love is that you captured it right as it was doing that poofy thing with it's feathers. That NEVER fails to amuse me.

You have to understand this bird to fully appreciate this shot. They are extremely shy and very difficult to photograph.

yeah they are usually really really hard to get a shot of. I got this while i was watching these bears sleep [link] i was sitting there pretty still for about 20 minutes just waiting for the bears to wake up. I think the fact that i had been there for a while made the birds comfortable and they started to land in the nearby branches. It was nice because it gave me something to do when the bears were sleeping haha

That's an absolutely beautiful bird. The only blue birds that live near me that I'm aware of are scrub jays, and they are pretty dull compared to that guy.

no bigger than a finch but they mostly hang out in open fields so in wide open areas like that they seem really tiny

Good capture! These things are almost next to impossible to photograph. Not only are they very small compared to their surroundings but they are very very shy and fly wicked fast. I've got one on a fence post that I took with my 200 but that was only because I was parked and he flew there post-parkage. Very cool shot here man!

yeah for sure, the only time ive gotten a good shot of one is when i was somewhere and it came to me. trying to approach one to photograph is pretty much impossible
