Sun activity is starting to come out of its dormant cycle. A recent eruption on the sun sent solar storms our way, allowing for viewers to see the northern lights (Aurora Borealis) much further south than usual. This view, looking north towards the big dipper was taken on the northern tip of the Wisconsin Peninsula, in Door County.

This is a very pretty picture, indeed.

I love how clearly you can see the big dipper, the most.

I'm sorry if you really did this, but I don't believe this to be your work.
I have a set of postcards with this exact picture on some of them.

well I didn't intend to be so ... rude about it, I just meant to say that I'm sure I've seen this on my postcards.

Are you sure you're sure? Because I'm sure you're wrong.
It's also wrong to make an accusation such as this without solid evidence to back it up. That's just rude and obnoxious no matter how politely you try and word it.

I'm sure that you're as sure that I am wrong as I am sure that I'm not.

I know Nate. He puts more time and effort into his photography than anyone. He doesn't steal images. I also know he was in the right place at the right time to take this photo.

It's not bad to call out art thieves, but you need to be sure when you make such an accusation. A background of silhouetted conifers is something that shows up in a lot of aurora photos. I highly recommend checking the postcards in question before you continue to insist on this.

See, now this is why I was trying to be as polite as I could about this.
I didn't mean to make a false accusation or anything, it was just pretty much an observation, I didn't mean to come off as a bitch about it :/
I'll take a closer look at the postcards when I can find them, until then I really just don't know.
But I'll say they're similar, at the very least.

If I was going to steal a photo of the northern lights and post them on here I'd steal a better photo than this one.

This is so beautiful! It makes me think of Halloween.....you probably weren't going for that, but I just can help but get that feel from it. It's the smooth mix of green, gray, black, and purple...and the starry night sky. Very awe-inspiring.

We were supposed to be able to see the northern lights here, and everyone was looking for them.. but we never saw any anywhere in my city. Big disappointment.

Beautiful shot here.. the colours make me all that much more envious of those who could see the northern lights.
