Description
To Purchase this image as an exclusive limited edition print, please click HEREA cow moose stands in a pond feeding on aquatic vegetation. These animals are very at home in the water and are surprisingly adapt swimmers. Moose, the largest member of the deer family have extremely long legs, which aid them in their natural habitats. Aside from water, moose are often found in areas with deep snow and tall grass.

beautiful shot, I love the golden colors being reflected off the surface of the water, like she is wading in a pool of liquid Autum...

Good god man! This is an awesome shot, when I was younger it seemed like moose were everywhere out here, its been years since I last saw one now, not sure why their populations have declined so much. Anyway, good to see one, even if its on the monitor.

do you use a tripod when you take your animal shots, or what? They're always so darn crisp. Beautiful photo.

actually I almost never use a tripod... I feel much more comfortable shooting handheld

so do I. You don't use a tripod with your landscape shots either? or do you just mean with wildlife?

I lived in Yellowstone and I was in the Tetons every weekend driving to Jackson! Only one I saw was in the park! Wrong time of year maybe? I was there from May to August and I saw him the first week of my stay!

Wow! They must do a lot of grazing to get enough food for such a large frame!

This is lovely! I actually thought it was a painting from the small thumbnail image. The little bit of backlighting you got on her ears is a very nice touch as is her wet nose.

Read somewhere that moose can dive several meters under water to eat aquatic vegetation.

I live in Connecticut, so sadly I've never seen a moose outside of a zoo. I wish there were more where I live, they are truly great animals.

I remember canoeing rather close to one...out in this area...but I've also been told that they can be dangerous...just all of a sudden charge at you...I guess you weren't as close as this looks...right!? It's a great shot with the water dripping down!

I was actually really close to this one... moose are very dangerous and aggressive... Mostly a bull moose during the rut in fall and a cow with a calf. this moose was quite fine with me sitting on the side of the pond photographing her though
