It's just, I can't help but feel that you're needlessly harsh on yourself. You have made some nice work, you have, yet you consider yourself talentless. Well, I can say without a doubt that your drawing skills are leaps and bonds over mine, and I'm not afraid to admit that. And just because you're unemployed, doesn't mean you're worthless either. Let me tell you something, I don't have a working job either (getting by on SSI thanks to my Aspergers), but I don't let that get me down. We all have a higher purpose, and it's not defined by our social standing in society, but in the lord, Christ Jesus. He wants better for you, he cares for you, and he sacrificed himself for you, because he loves each and every one of us that much. I'm not trying to pelt you with religious prattle, or feed you some (reverse) psychology BS, these are my honest to God feelings. Make of them as you will.

Leaves the possibility that the sirens served him, and their gems were a part of or made by the Flash Stone. Not content with just conquering Aquastria, he could have used the sirens to cause strife in Equestria so ponykind would be too busy fighting to stop him from flooding the kingdom.

Actually, in my canon/or fanon, Squirk had a love interest with Adagio, and Krank with Sonata. While Aria would be their sisters in law. But the Dazzlings fooled him and Krank on their proposed wedding. And Krank's relationship with Squirk would be loyal since he treated him with respect since childhood. They're not brothers, but are in a sense. (Adoptive brothers) They are in no way related though much like Scorpan and Tirek. Krank has that "He treats me so well but is this the right thing to do" chemistry. He feels remorseful, but want to stay on Squirk side because he treats him the same way he treated him from childhood. Squirk in my canon has powerful telekinetic powers and control all marine life in the sea. Exception for Sea ponies because they have a powerful shield that nullifies his powers. He even controlling sentient creatures like Cipactli, Leviathan, Loch Ness, and Kelpies. But due to his vocal cords not evolved yet, Squirk only speak via telepathy. Since he has powerful psychic powers, he knows the thoughts and minds of others, as well by names, making him extremely dangerous. Because if Tirek can draw magic unlike the original, than Squirk and possibly the other old baddies should have something unique to them excluding Grogar. And yes, he's a Kraken, because why not? I think I suggest Squirk's blood parents to be both Charybdis (Mother) and Dagon (Father) but it's uncertain at the moment.Β

King Leo is the ruler of Aquastria, much as Celestia and Luna are co-rulers of Equestria. He's a literal sea-lion(fish body, lion's head!) Seaponies, mermares, kelpies, etc. all live there.
I've kind of had a personal HC that the Flash Stone is sort of the royal treasure of the sea and a powerful magic artifact(much like the Crystal Heart), and Squirk usurped control over Aquastria when he stole the Flash Stone and ruled over the seas for some time as an oppressive tyrant, before Leo overthrew him and returned peace to the undersea world.
