Description I recently needed 42 custom book covers for a 3D render. Here's how I did it, and how you can, too.

Click for full size. It is rather long.

This process will work for any prop, clothing, and even skin.

MINOR EDIT: I misspelled Faveral's name! GAH! Thank you Lyrra for pointing that out. The correction has been made to the .jpg.

If you export the item as an obj file you can use the free uvmapper to open it and save the uvmap template. This will make it easier to line things up

Also, please take note that if you use the original texture map as shown, you can NOT distribute your textures. you may want to find and use a stock photo of a book cover instead.

And lastly - Opus Magnum is made by Faveral

The original texture map is only used as a template for the creation of the new texture. It's covered by 100% opaque layers when the final texture image is produced. So I don't think there'd be a problem with redistributing those textures - not a single pixel from the copyrighted image appears in the new one.

That wouldn't be the case if you produced a new texture by modifying the old one - taking the old image and changing its colour, for example. Then you would not be able to distribute the modified image without permission.

I did misspell Faveral's name, didn't I? DUH! Thanks for letting me know. I'll go change that.

Thanks, Nathan! I've done bookcovers for ebooks, semi-professionally. Now I know how to put a cover on a Daz-book!
