Description
This is my application to adopt Therio for 's Draw to Adopt contest. (It's a hermaphrodite, but for the sake of simplicity I'm going to refer to it as "he".)The name Therio (or Therien for gender neutral, or Theria for female) is the Greek prefix meaning "beast" or "animal", and is most commonly use in the word "theriogenology" which is the study of the reproductive systems of animals.
He is a bilaterally gynandromorphic hermaphrodite of a sexualy dimorphic canid species that resembles a maned wolf in shape, the males being a striking black and gray with blue spots, and the females a muted gray with bright orange spots.
This particular specimen has an unusual connection with premonition and shifting magics. He has the ability to see the future intentions of anyone caught in his pupiless gaze. He is by nature a good-hearted trickster, and harrasses any person who intends harm on others in an attempt to delay their planned evil doing, and gets some giggles out of it too. Cars not starting, missing socks, holes in tents on rainy, windy nights are some mild tricks he'll play on just about anyone, but if he decides you could use a lesson he may make your car or tent vanish completely if you take your eyes off of them.
The missing items tend to turn up near people in need of them too. If you're lost and you see a trail of socks through the forest, follow them. They may lead you to the thing you need most. Or don't. If he sensed evil in your soul he could be leading you to your demise.
He is damn near impossible to catch and very good at not being seen, but he leaves a small puff of smoke when he shifts. If you see an unexplained puff of smoke know that he's nearby, and as long as you're pure-hearted you have no need to fear him.
I haven't decided the extent of his shapeshifting ability, but I do know that any form he takes will also be bilaterally gynandromorphic, perhaps with the same markings and colors, but perhaps not. He'll at least be able to shift into a butterfly and some other small creatures, I'm not sure if he'll have a human form yet or any other large animals.
Backstory, family, habitat, diet and other personal details have yet to be planned, but I'm excited.
Drawn in about 4-5 hours with my new Sakura Brush pen (it was so satisfying to use), colored with Prismacolor watercolor pencils, and the highlights were painted with Golden acrylic iridescent paints. It's a shame that my camera wasn't working, the scanner doesn't do the iridescents any justice. They're so bright and shiny, but you can hardly tell they're there in this scan.

Why, thank you! If you don't mind me asking, what do you like best about it and what needs improvement?

I love the colours and creativity of the canine's features.
Improvement-wise, you should do some canine anatomy research. His body looks a little out of proportion to his head, along with it being maybe too short. The legs look a little odd. So in all, just do some anatomical studies of canines.
It is still an epic piece!

Yep, yep, you are correct on all those. His body is based off of a maned wolf, something I'm not used to drawing with their strangely long legs, and I tried a perspective I'm not at all used to either.
And I didn't notice it before, but his head IS a bit large. XD
All in all, he was a good practice.
