Hi, While driving to the marsh this morning, I came across this Snapping Turtle Female as she was laying her eggs along the side of the road by the river. They lay the eggs around the first 2 weeks of June, and the little ones will hatch right around Labor day, ( second week in September ),give or take a few days. Most of these nests are dug up by Raccoons or Skunks..so she will lay over a dozen eggs. This way if one nest makes it through, the population of turtles will stay stable.The eggs are about the same size as a "Ping Pong Ball", pure white in color. Enjoy!
