Description
My boyfriend Mikki wanted a jacket with a scorpion on the back, in the style of El Mariachi. When he got a flak jacket as part of his stage gear for our band, it seemed like the perfect opportunity. I'm really proud of this, as it's much bolder and more striking than my usual rather timid attempts at visual art. It's also come out surprisingly well given that I'd never tried painting on that type of material before and was more or less making up the technique as I went along. This was done with a stencil, coloured pastel to sketch in the design, then two coats of silver acrylic. With hindsight I really should have used a white basecoat, but it looks okay anyway, so I'm not too worried.Jacket modelled, of course, by Mikki; photo kindly taken by Koi Lungfish.

Thanks!
I did it by making a stencil of the design, as I said in the comments, and putting it onto the fabric using coloured pastel to make a guide pattern. Then I just painted over the guides with silver acrylic and tidied it up. It was easier than I expected really!
