Another MV 22 I snapped with my cell phone during a visit to a hanger at Marine Corps Air Facility in Quantico, VA. This shows you how the Osprey is folded up in the hanger (or at sea). Pretty impressive!Related content

Yes indeed! These aircraft embark on Navy LHDs and LPDs, so they have to "fold up" to make enough space in the hanger bays on these ships. It is pretty cool how they fold up!

So this is the colour scheme issued on the US military's version of the Osprey planes? Kinda chocolate-y.

This is a unique color scheme. HMX1 is the only squadron that has these colors. Most Osprey's are in the "tactical paint scheme" or TPS, which are various matt gray colors.

When not flying POTUS, HMX1 pretty much just uses their birds for training. You wouldn't see these in Afghanistan!

I saw an Osprey up close at the EAA airshow one year... but I didn't know that their wings could fold up like that.

It really saves a lot of space - very efficient for putting them in an LHD hanger bay!
