Description Assalaamu alaikum [peace be to you],

Alright, this one I did quickly. felt too lazy to color it. but I guess colors are not really necessary. the message is clear. no?

today I'd like to talk a little about Stereotype.

On April 19, 1995, a big deadly terrorist attack transformed Oklahoma City into the center of the media universe. Reporters from all over the world swarmed to cover the bombing of the city's federal building, where 167 people died.
But unknown to most people at the time was the tragedy that happened next. At least 220 attacks were committed against Muslims and Arab-Americans after the FBI said that three Middle Eastern men were the prime suspects in the bombing.
There was a rush to point the finger in the four days before authorities charged former U.S. Army serviceman Timothy McVeigh in the bombing.

"Bombing happened => the suspect must be a Muslim." sadly this is how many westerners (who are not familiar with Islam) think.

the West has many stereotypes and misconceptions about Islam that are due to the media, prejudice, and ignorance. Islam is often looked upon as a "extremist", "terrorist", or "fundamental" religion. Many people hate Islam and do not want to to try to know more about it. In many cases, the media’s reports about Islam are incorrect due to ignorance.

The major factor which contributes to Islamic stereotyping in the West is due to the media’s ignorance of selecting their words that describe Muslims. Some common names heard or seen in the news about Muslims are "extremist" or "terrorist". These words are misleading and are mainly anti-Islamic.
Adding to the fact that the media creates inaccurate ideas about Islam, the Western media is also very influential to its audiences in making negative Islamic stereotypes.

There are over 1.3 billion Muslims among the 6.6 billion people in today’s world, and 45 of the world’s 193 nation states are largely or predominantly Muslim. The economic circumstances, religious attitudes and political preferences of these Muslims vary widely, of course. The vast majority are moderate, responsible citizens, who are the same as people everywhere. They want meaning and purpose in their lives, sustenance and economic opportunity, family, friends and happiness. among these Muslims, there are the bad ones, and there are also the good ones.

Today in the west, there are three types of Muslims: immigrants, converts and those born to either group. but many Westerners don't know this. they think that a Muslim must be an outsider. by thinking like this, they are denying the native Western Muslims their Western identity. do not think an American who happen to be a Muslim is no more American!

The best solution to defeat this stereotype and avoid discrimination and prejudice is to learn about these people that are different. when we learn about each other, we know the truth from falsehood and we won't be fearing each other. so let's all be learning.

I hope that was beneficial.

Though made in 2011 this is still quite accurate as, despite many stereotypes, NOT ALL MUSLIM AND ISLAMIC PEOPLE ARE EXTREMISTS

While I do not share your belief, I have the utmost respect for it. You are a caring and loving people and your treatment is unfair. I myself often try to offset the hate Muslims receive with small acts of kindness, such as complementing a woman's headscarf or striking up friendly conversation when others seem to be wary. All people deserve love and respect.

I think the hijaab is similar to the hood of an Assassin. Clearly states out the Assassins' second tenet:

Hide in plain sight. Be a silent blade within the crowd.

Assassins kill Templar atheists, those who want to abolish religion and control the entire people in a New World Order, with slavery and total control.

I'm not saying that all Muslims are bad, but the recent attacks by Muslim extremists are not exactly giving non-Muslims any reason to lower their guard.

Unless these extremists stop attacking non-Muslims, this problem is unlikely to end anytime soon.

It may be a harsh fact, especially since even non-extremist Muslims would suffer from the backlash, but that's the sad truth.

I see your point, but a: extremists harm/kill/ruin the lives of many Muslims also, they don't just target foreigners B: pretty much every race has at some point has committed some kind of horrific tragedy, so saying that we have to "keep our guard up against Muslims and Islamists" is sort of foolish, and harmful to the millions of perfectly innocent, normal people of another race

Funny drawing, but so sad! Reminds me of the story of my great-grandfather, he came over from Germany just before the war. He was so scared by the mob violence (Chicago during WWII, he saw his neighbors being beaten in the street) that he and his sisters (their parents died of the flu) burned the letters and address book from their German relatives. He didn't speak his mother tongue for seventy years. Whenever I'm feeling particularly ungrateful, I take a moment to thank God he could speak German again with my mother before he died.

tl;dr. Racial/religious/ethnic profiling sucks and we've seen it throughout American history. If we're ever going to stop history from repeating itself, we all need to stand up for our Muslim brothers and sisters. And above all we need peace in the Middle East. The sooner the conflict there ends, the sooner the conflict at home can start to heal.

Instead of whining about people being scared of you, understandably, you should concentrate that energy on criticising and fighting against radical, hateful and violent (or murderous) muslims. Why do you guys never really take a stance against those monsters? It's them who are the reason why people are afraid of ALL muslims. What do you expect if you never really speak out and fight against evil muslism? It's almost as if you don't care or secretly agree. Get it? Western people usually stand up against bigotry, hatred and violence so when you don't do that they assume you are not really against it.

Excuse me and sorry for interrupting. They way you are saying that " you should concentrate that energy on criticising and fighting against radical, hateful and violent (or murderous) muslims." There are more non-muslims like that. People like you should stop playing dumb and look into reality. How stupid can you be? Is it the way we dress? The way we talk? The way we speak? Have you researched on our religion? What right do you have to say such things when you have no knowledge? Be smart in Math, science your job, other things but in this sense you and others could be the most stupidest people on Earth. We respect your religion, so you full fill our rights too. Because of people like you, the world is not at peace. If one Muslim becomes a criminal, you guys assume every muslim is like that. Is it true? Our religion teaches peace. All you've learned is to talk dirty. Is that what your religion teaches? Yes? Pathetic beliefs.

"Instead of whining about people being scared of you"
I'm not whining. you're the one who is whining here.

"understandably, you should concentrate that energy on criticising and fighting against radical, hateful and violent (or murderous) muslims."
I already did.

"Why do you guys never really take a stance against those monsters?"
We did. but you're picky in what you want to see and hear.

"It's them who are the reason why people are afraid of ALL muslims."
They're only part of the problem. the other part are the radical, hateful and violent (or murderous) Islamophobes from among the non-Muslims.

"What do you expect if you never really speak out and fight against evil muslism?"
We spoke again and again. if you deliberately ignore what we say, that's your problem.

"It's almost as if you don't care or secretly agree. Get it?"
here you are ignorantly going overboard...

"Western people usually stand up against bigotry, hatred and violence so when you don't do that they assume you are not really against it."
Some Western people do.

I don't need to waste my time arguing with you.  you seem to be biased and you only see what you want to see. it's not my problem that you don't like to see when we talk against injustice and violence. it's not my problem that you don't like to see the peaceful Islam. but coming to my page to attack Islam in my page based on what you like to pick and select is against the rules I made for my page therefore your comment here is to be flagged as spam.

Most of the time it does stem from ignorance, sometimes it comes from knowing too much. And sometimes it's a natural instinct. When dealing with other human beings though, yeah it's mostly ignorance. Or stupidity. Which are two different things.

Well as cruel as this is. You certainly can't say such fears sprouted purely out of baseless fear... because Islamic fanaticism is very much alive well and extremely dangerous today.

You also must take in to considerations some Countries are homogeneous for one or another reason... for example my Country Poland - 94% Catholic, 92% Ethnic Poles comprise it's population.

I am conditioned to turn my head when I see a black man in the street purely and simply because they are extremely rare in my country, I think I only once saw a Ethnically dressed Muslim family in a supermarket... roughly 16 years ago when I was about 9 years old.

curiousprintery In reply to Nayzak [2014-03-01 16:19:06 +0000 UTC]

Native European muslims tend to be a lot more moderate, don't have that much of a problem with integrating themselves in our society and usually accept our laws, morals and culture. If a muslim can't do that, and unfortunately they often have problems with that, they should have to go.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Rodegas In reply to Nayzak [2014-01-10 17:20:06 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, well native European Muslims like from balkan or tatars can blend into europe society because they don't wear burkas and don't bow to mosque on streets or want sharia law or islam domination , from what I know they already settled into a europe civilization.

LoZCollector [2013-10-08 16:49:18 +0000 UTC]

People really are idiots sometimes.

Look, I'll be honest and admit it; people who are different than me, such as people who look Middle-Eastern, or African, do make me a little uneasy. Less so Asians and Hispanics, but it's still there. It's human nature to feel ill-at-ease around people that are different to you; we gravitate towards groups and shun and alienate those outside those groups. We've done it since the Stone Age and we'll continue to do so forever. If we didn't, there'd never be any wars, or disagreements, or differences in belief and religion. However, I realise this and I don't like it.

Everyone deserves an equal chance, no matter what our animal reaction to someone outside the tribe is. So I put aside prejudice as best I can and tell myself that we share at least ONE piece of common ground; we're all human. I wouldn't want someone considering me, a white, blonde, blue-eyed, young adult, as some kind of arrogant, oppressive, self-entitled jackass who thinks he runs the world. So I make no assumptions of others, based solely on their religion, or manner of dress, or colour of their skin.

Besides, this train's crowded and there's more free seats if we don't shy away from sitting next to others.
