Description
Here we have two examples of the possible future evokution of penguins: the pengwhale and wave hopper.
The pengwhale, a decedent of the emperor penguine, is a 15 foot long aquatic bird. In the future they have become more adapted to life in the water and only go onto land to lay their eggs. They have taken up the niche of whales in the warm coastal waters of the Antarctic continent, which has migrated north as the continents shifted.
The wave hopper is a decent of the rock hopper penguin and have taken up the niche of dolphins or porpoises in their habitat. Their name derives from their habit of jumping above the waves in chase of fleeing fish; they often follow pods of pengwhales to catch any fish or small crustaceans the aquatic behemoths scare up.
