I don't think tankers do that, usually your name/blood type is on your helmet band or back of your tac vest.
Also, btw, seen the new version of the CADPAT uniform, they now added those shoulder pockets to both sides

It would seem that the existing AR variant already got those shoulder pockets, with a small patch of velcro.

Yeah, your helmet band is a loop around your helmet with two glow in the dark squares on the back to help show buddy behind you in a patrol where you are (look like this [link] and flip them out during night, hide them during day). On the front you would write you name (like so [link] now that smart fucker got is sown in, instead of using a good old perminate marker).
Now for the back, it would be on a tac vest, shoulder height, either your drag strap or around it. Mainly anything that isn't CADPAT or lower down to be blocked by camel packs or butt pouches. Backpacks are no worries for your name should be on its top flap anyways (velcro spot to put your name tag (small pack [link] rucksack [link] ), if old OD ruck sack ([link] ), you write your name on your air mattress case or bivi bag will do (which hang on the bottom).).
For when in combat, you really can't see the name tag when your all geared up.
Also, feel like an ass when I said no side pockets earlier and then the CF rolls out the new version of our uniforms, now with side pockets.
