Description
A dogfight between a MiG-29 Fulcrum and a JAS-39 Gripen C, who wins?Wanted to give a go at trying stuff that I don't always draw or paint. Many thanks to for introducing me to the radial blur tool in Photoshop, which helped to create that dynamic explosion effect.
EDIT: Stronger contrast and luminosity, some perspective skewing on the flares, and a much more fitting title~

I think that who wins depends primarily on pilots (MiG-17 vs. F-4, who wins? Surprise, surprise...). In case of roughly equally skilled pilots, I think it's about the aircraft. Early, unupgraded versions of MiG should have quite a problem against modern avionics of Grippen, but later versions of Fulcrum are, IMHO, clearly superior to JAS-39. I believe weapons are the last thing to compare, especially in such a close range the picture sugests.

Yeah, it is the pilot who makes the aircraft shine, that is much true.
The setup was kind of...random, since I wanted to draw a Gripen, but with a twist of action instead of a boring technical drawing. XD

Wooah. MiG-29 wins, hands down. I mean, its a multirole aganist a jet meant for air superiority. (Eh, i don't know much about the Fulcrum :l correct me if i'm wrong.)

the Mig-29 was first designed as a lightweight air superiority fighter, but some have been refurbished to be multirole crafts.

Anyone else happen to watch Dogfights when it was on the history channel? Among my other favorite shows back in the early 2000s were Command Decisions, Shootout, Modern Marvels, Heavy Metal, and Decisive Battles (the ancient world). I do not tune into to it as often now because I have grown tired of one reality show after another.
