Description "...Elf ranger Berthadhiell has reached the area, from where the troubles have been reported. The forest here is older, colder and more damp than the warm and gentle one around the sanctuary. By softly whistling, she's keeping constant contact with the Tavor (woodpecker) scout escorting her. Now he seems a little alert, danger ahead...?"

Toolbox: Vue render, imports from DAZ Studio, Poser, Onyxtree, and Photoshop some minor corrections.

Very well done and great render. Somehow the front character reminds me of Peter Dinklage.

This scene is so alive. Wonderful - only tiny niggle is that the steed doesn't actually seem to touch the ground.

Thanks. Well, I can assure you that the animal is not hovering, but the effect may come from the fact that there are no real cast shadows. I wouldn't post a picture with such an error

Love all the little details - the moss and lichen and fungi.
Is there a story behind this image?

Thanks. There's "sort of a story", I've made a few other renders with the elf ranger and the likes, and there may be more. I've made several of these half-finished series, the problem is that I tend to lose interest, because some scenes "necessary for the narrative" are boring to make.

These Β are also here at DA:

I know what you mean about rendering to illustrate a narrative. It's a challenge to keep the images individually interesting.

I guess a lot depends on your starting point (story or graphics) and your focus... do you have a tale to tell or a visual world to reveal?
