Description This was an experiment and learning piece for me, took almost 2 weeks to complete. I can't thank `khrass enough for all his help and teachings in airbrushing, couldn't have finished this one without him.

This is good, more "laidback" than many of the others, the working eye betrays some thought ("What's up with the other half of my face..."), with makes it more multilayered than many typically goorey paintings. Superb workmanship, my eulogies!

I always respond, well until recently, Im sort of swamped these days and my time for da is really limited. But I try to check in to read notes and personal messages when I can.
Glad the tutorial helped. Im hoping to make another one soon.

well thats really cool and nice that you respond. ya, your tutorial was great, and it has actually totally inspired me to do something like that

could you do all that on Jasc Paint Shop Pro? i think i have like v7.0.

nebu In reply to grimmreepr [2004-10-29 04:48:23 +0000 UTC]

Most of my art posted in my da gallery and on my website were done using paintshop pro 7. I bought psp9 about a month ago. And yes you can do it all in psp. I dont use photoshop. Ive been a diehard psp user for over 5 years now.

grimmreepr In reply to nebu [2004-10-29 23:29:56 +0000 UTC]

oh, then that's great. i gotta find a cool picture, and i'll start photomanipulating away!

one thing- in the tutorial, i didn't quite understand how to do the mouth changing. also the grunge texture thing: i understood that a bit more, but it is still sort of hard for me.

sorry if all these questions are annoying. im a poor little 12 year old

Questions asking for help or to improve are never annoying.
What specifically didnt you understand?

grimmreepr In reply to nebu [2004-10-31 17:28:22 +0000 UTC]

i just dont understand how to put another picture on top of another to be used as a texture. i only know how to put a picture on to another, but it will cover everything underneath it. do you understand?

thanks

Whoaaaaa! (That's usually how I start my sayings when I see something freakishly cool.) Two weeks to do that? That's two weeks well spent!

This picture looks like something out of nightmare. They're so much underlying meaning in it that you're gonna have to give me some time to say it all.

First of all, the industrial rust coloring is just breathtakingly beautiful. This is the kind of stuff I LOOK FOR in nightmares, hoping to catch a glimpse of some deeper macabre side of my psyche. When I think of the word horror, I think of this EXACT industrial rust setting, but I never thought that the HUMAN could become part of the setting himself!

This is quite horrific. The skin is cracked like the ground in a dried up swamp, rippling with crevices into the inner being of this human/creature/whatever-it-is, attempting to reveal something of it's mental insides. He rips his skin off with one mannequin-like hand, tearing away at his humanity bit-by-bit till nothing but the charred industrial rust remains. The bolts in his arms reflect that he has fallen apart, mentally and physically, through exposure of the world he is currently in. Or perhaps the world he's in, along with his current physical state, is reflective of the anguish he's feeling inside. If this is true, the only form of life left in this wracked body is the single, solitary eye, gazing at the hand that peels the flesh. The lack of a second eye would usually denote lack of soul and sight, but how do we know that eye hasn't fallen back into the head from the ripping, viewing it's inner self rather than losing sight altogther? The darkness and lack of background show isolation, and rightfully so. Anyone who undergoes this kind of torture will have no one to help pull them out of it but themselves. There is no mouth, and therefore no outlet of expression. Only mental meditation on the decaying state of this poor, lost soul.

Saying this is good just doesn't cut it. I think I've adequately expressed my feelings for this hauntingly beautiful piece of work.

Well, you don't need to say much if you can make pictures like the Wall of Silence. Those are the kind of pictures I live for, because they are just so eerie and unique, they touch a very deep part of my psyche, like I've said before. If you said that took two weeks, then you did a really good job. I'll be sure to look at more of your work. Good job!
