I can so see this situation with so many other characters as well, besides Varmell of course. He just takes it so calmly... I'm pretty sure Melantha would just punch him or something, and Fender would probably agree and they'd throw rocks at the thing for two days until it left. Not dead.

Well, it would depend on her mood. If she was hungry or in a bad mood she'd take a rock and throw it at Crash instead, but otherwise she'd probably just go nibble on something she shot down with her arrows while giggling and laughing at the stupidity of it all.
