Hey there, I'm another one from ProjectComment. Β

You really seem to have a good grasp on the warm light coming from the sun. Lighting is consistent on their clothes and hair. I also like that you're able to create different hair styles using a combination of outlines and paint strokes - it makes for a unique render. The way you draw and render eyes is also lots of fun, and there's enough diversity that each person in the drawing seems like his or her own person. As artists develop, they tend to lose the ability to create distinct characters as they become comfortable with one way of drawing and coloring faces and bodies. Keep that in mind as you move forward!

The problems with perspective that others have addressed can probably be solved by starting to experiment with using horizons and vanishing points. If you keep a line for the horizon or a series of lines radiating from a single point in the foreground (at a low opacity), it will help you picture how additional objects like the blanket and bench would fit into the whole picture and draw their perspectives accurately. It'll take some time (I'm just now getting used to it myself), but you'll have an easier time keeping your images unified.

Wonderful work!

Hi! I'm from ProjectComment.
I think this is a really solid piece– I love all the details you've put into it and the calm shading and great coloring.
A main thing I think you could work on is the placement and posing– the picnic blanket on the right is at a very strange perspective, and the characters all look a bit stiff. I'd advise looking at references and studying perspective.
Also, a minor thing that I think could be improved is the choice of colors– it's not bad, but I think that a more consistent color scheme would make the whole thing more consistent and interesting.
But overall, I can see that you've really improved in your art, and you've obviously put a lot of work into this piece. I can't wait to see more of your work!

Thank you so much for the feedback! I don't get critiques very often, so I really appreciate you taking the time to analyze my art~β™‘

the colors, shading are nearly perfect! but on the other hand the body structures are kind of like noodles, you need to keep in mind the bone structure will effect the pose, try using refs of human bone structure that's what I do personallyΒ

Thank you so much for the feedback! I meant for the characters to look relaxed, I guess that's what made them look too fluid. I'm not completely sure what you mean though, could you clarify a bit more on your critique?

I mean the joints, I can't make out where they are, which makes them look kind of like noodles lol, no offense its still a wonderful pieceΒ

its a nice group of friends. the styles and posses look like every character I have ever drawn. I think that's a lack of my imagination not yours. Or maybe these people are incredibly average?Β

I love the little details, the fall leaves look very natural.Β

What this lacks is a story. Who are they? what are there names? why are they in the park? what happened before and after this?Β  if you want to brainstorm ideas I can help you find names and character bios.Β

Aww, thank you! I do understand that they look pretty average, but that's kind of because they're supposed to be? I meant for this to be kind of a casual get together and all.

I don't know if you knew this, but these are my OCs! I draw them the most in my OC folders, and have already given them small descriptions and bios in other pictures. Thanks for the offer though!
