Description You know exactly what this stems from

Hey there, true believers (I've always wanted to say that)! This little lady here would be the Spider-Woman of "Earth-919," a sex + gender-reversed Marvel Comics universe that exists only in my mind.

I had this concept on my mind for a while, but didn't dare draw it because I'm intimidated by the art in American Comics. That's why there's barely any Marvel oriented art in my gallery. I know that is not an original idea for a universe, but hang on, it gets worse.

Pietra Parker (who looks in no way Italian for some reason) is a nerdy, anxious, fear-ridden 17-year-old girl who lives with her Aunt Beth and Uncle Max. At school she's constantly tormented by Jean Thompson and rejected by Lee Allan. Her only friends are Harley Osborn and the boy she tutors in chemistry--Matthew James "M.J." Watson. Once her aunt is killed by a criminial Pietra was too afraid of to turn into police she starts taking odd jobs to help with funeral and living expenses out of guilt. She eventually decides to sell her body to science, signing up to be subject 1 of 6 in a "genetics study," but before she ever makes it through the door, she gets bitten by a genetically altered spider and becomes violently ill. She subsequenly discovers she has the abilities of a spider. Swearing never to fear--or let others fear--again, she suits up as Earth-919's Spider-Woman.

Really this exists because, when I was five, all I wanted to be for Halloween was Spider-Man. My dad said no. Gender roles, all that crap. And I've been bitter ever since. So I've recently sworn to myself that, in the off chance I get a male companion, I will force him to join me in a "genderbender Spidey and MJ cosplay." This is the design for that hypothetical costume. But I couldn't stop there, nooooo. Because then I wouldn't be me. So she got a backstory.

----------On to logistics----------

I've started trying a new inking style--bold out-lines, thin interior lines. Y'get what I mean? Anyway, I like it.

Spidey's pose is taken from www.dynamicforces.com/images/C… an Alex Ross painting of Spider-Man and Woman. He did the opening credit art for the second movie, and really you should be looking at his art instead of the crap I drew

Piete's name was reached after scrolling through all the female P-names I could think of (except my own, because we all know that just screams Mary-Sue). My mother suggested "Petra Parker," I mispronounced it as Pietra and settled on it because I thought it sounded more like Peter.

I wish the legs/feet had turned out better. Unfortunately, I can't contort my body like the Spider-Family can, so my number-one model was unable to help me.

You can't see it here, but the bare fingers are supposed to have red polish to keep the color scheme. This exists for no reason other that for it to be noticed by a certain red-head after Piete becomes so lazy she only colors the required fingers (and with a Sharpie marker).

"webbing" is actually a curved grid, because, well, I'm just lazy.

At one point in the character design I thought about giving her high heeled boots, like the "adult" Spider-Girl costume has. But, being a geek, I quickly realized "that would half her feet's 'stick-um powers.'"

The costume itself is probably best described as "Jessica Drew as Spider-Woman meets Mayday Parker as Spider-Girl meets the suit from Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark"

Speaking of which, is that the background from the broadway ad? Yes. Yes it is. But I drew it all over myself, so I have no guilt.

On a related note, I have a font similar to the one from the musical on my computer, but put her name in the movie font because I like it better.

Drawn on the Gimp for Windows on a Wacom Bamboo tablet.

there is another character name Spider woman. althought she don't have the same powers as Spiderman. but if ur drawing is the female of spiderman. then that means the daughter of spiderman in that world of ur spider women version is her son.

I am aware of the actual Marvel Universe's Spider-Woman; I even genderbent her in this deviation as a companion to the genderbent Spider-Man of this piece. And to answer your question, yes, May Parker/Spider-Girl would instead be Mac Parker/Spider-Boy in this hypothetical universe of mine.

Yes I do. Our little trip to the mall.

HAH! One of my characters has the name "Petra!" Because it means "the rock" and she's an earth elemental. Because I'm so original.

And that's one of the best backgrounds you've ever drawn!

A red head, huh? For someone who likes someone with dark hair, your characters seem to have a thing for red heads.

OMG THAT MASK WAS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO ME ALL SUMMER HAHHHHHH!!!

PFFFTTTT!!! I didn't even know that! Don't worry, I do that all the time, looking up translations for their magical elements and making it their names I just didn't have the internet this time, so I was like "What rhymes with Peter?"

Bah, don't give me too much credit, It's just a carbon copy of the ad from Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.

Well, I think I've always wanted to be a redhead. Even back in the Disney Days, when I loved the Little Mermaid. It's a Freudian thing, probably

Remember to wear that when you come over to my house next time.

I only knew what Petra meant because of a fanfiction I read.

But it looks AWESOME! And you didn't cheat either; you drew it yourself!

Y'know, I'm actually happy being a brunette. Any other hair color would look dreadful on me.

Oh, believe me, I shall. It's my business to scare people I know with it. either intentionally or unintentionally.

I google baby names. That or go on name generators. Seventh Sanctum is the best. They have normal names AND magical ones.

It's all thanks to the Gimp's brushes. It's a great thing, really. ALL HAIL THE GIMP!!!

I know it would look awful, but I still want it. It's terrible. I've been contemplating buying a wig to get it out of my system

Yay for scaring people!

I have a baby name website that I go to as well, but that Seventh Sanctum sounds good! I better go look at it!

All hail the GIMP indeed!

That's not a bad idea. But I'd wait until your bank account is healthy again.

... It's usually just my mom. She keeps swearing she'll get me back. And she probably will.

It's a kicker. You get character descriptions, attack names, LOADS of stuff.

Yeah, HELLOOOO dishroom again X(

When I let expect it. Just when you think it's safe to leave your room the dark ... SPIDER-MAN FACE!

IT. IS. AWESOME. And sometimes they have competitions based on their generators. I've never competed, but it looks fun.

I'll get through it somehow, don't you worry.
The 8am to 4pm Monday classday, maybe not
