Last year I made a Red Fraggle puppet:And then I wasn't satisfied, so I made some changes to her head:
But her eyes were still a tad too big.Β Well, I finally got some 50MM ping-pong balls, and I think I finally got her right!

If you don't mind me asking, how did you go about making the stalk part of her pigtails and attaching the feathers to them? I'm about to start working on a Red myself and it's the only part I'm not sure about.

The stalk and the feather puff are made separately. Β I make a small ball of fabric (spare antron fleece, usually) and hot-glue bundles of feather barbs to them.For the stalks I glue feathers down to a strip of Antron fleece, then roll it into a tube and thread the florists' wire that stiffens the pigtail through that. Β The puff is attacked to one end of the wires, and the others poke right through the fabric and foam skull and anchor on the underside. Β I put a foam cushion on top of that to protect the puppeteer and also to keep the hand in place; without that the hand might slip backward in the head.
