Such a wonderful pic! And there's almost no Storyteller fan art, either. I hope you draw her again someday.

You are a master of sweet and heartwarming Fraggle Rock illos, and this is no exception! I love how you drew Matt and Storyteller just relaxing together with their feet in the water. Next time, I hope you make a pic of Morris Fraggle, the possible son of Matt and Storyteller. I would love to see how Morris comes out in your style!

Thanks. We always see Matt bumbling around. Only when he comes home do we see a more personal side of him. He's clearly very attached to his Nephew Gobo, but maybe he also makes some time for The Storyteller. I like Angus's idea that Morris is their son, and in my Fraggleverse there'd be nothing odd about that; she simply invited him to join her at midsummer, and Morris was the expected result.
I have no plans to draw Morris, which doesn't necessarily mean that I plan not to draw him. I just haven't had any ideas.

that is so sweet.
wished they had more flashback episodes with traveling matt and explore the relationship with matt and the story teller...
speaking of which, does she even have a name or has she always been the story teller?

According to Terry Angus, it's suspected that Morris is the son of Matt and The Storyteller. Hey, why not?
As far as we've seen, she's always been just The Storyteller. In one episode we saw Matt as a young Fraggle, and the younge Storyteller was still called that. And she was still crushed out on him.

Sorry to creep around your comments section, but I just realized I am replying to your comments exactly five years after the fact. XD Well, it WAS before midnight when I started writing my first reply, so that counts as being on December 11th rather than the 12th. Β

Now that I'm thinking about it all over again, I'm starting to like the name Sherry, since it can be short for Scheherazade:Β en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scheheraβ¦

Since the Storyteller was one of my favorite Fraggles when I was a kid, I've given her various names over the years. One of the earliest was Agnes, but it always bugged me that, even though it really suited her, there was already a creature that Mokey had named Agnes in "Invasion of the Toe Ticklers." I then moved on to Agatha, as it was slightly similar, but it didn't fit, and eventually I came to settle on Emma. It's a good, simple, Fragglish name, although a part of me still greatly prefers the name Agnes. I mean, she just LOOKS like an Agnes to me! Β

yeah, that episode is so cute, wish they had more flashback eps like that. and i guess she was always the storyteller.
and does that mean morris and gobo are like... cousins or something?

I suppose it could be. I don't know if Fraggles count their extended family or not.

Nevuela In reply to Negaduck9 [2017-12-12 08:18:54 +0000 UTC]
Aside from Matt being Gobo's uncle, there is a startling lack of familial connections in Fraggle Rock. I would assume that, given the size of their community, most Fraggles would have to be related. This would explain why they don't feel the need to count extended family, and perhaps the only reason Matt and Gobo are so close is because of the absence of Gobo's parents. A few clues throughout the series seem to hint at the idea that Matt raised Gobo himself.
Remember the episode where the Storyteller told the tale of how a young Matt discovered the Gorgs' garden? And remember how there was a female Fraggle named Molly who appeared to be Uncle Gobo's niece? I mean, she called him "Uncle" numerous times. Sure, the Storyteller did too, but that might have been out of respect. Still, I got the impression that Molly was Matt's sister (Matt and Molly = sibling name alliteration) and most likely the mother of nephew Gobo. Otherwise, there seemed to be no good reason to insert her into the story. What do you think?

Terry Angus, who puppeteered both The Storyteller and Morris (the little yellow Fraggle with glasses) has hinted that Morris is The Storyteller's son by Matt. I like that idea.

Not that it was hard for her to get Matt's attention... all she had to do is talk about *him.*
There have been other female Fraggles -- there was the one who made friends with Wembly, one of Cantel's followers is a girl, there were female Merfraggles or Mergles or whatever, and some of the hat-wearing, serious Fraggles from elsewhere in the Rock were female... and of course, at least two female Doozers. But as usual in a male-dominated artform, female characters tend to be generic -- faces in the background that are way too few percentage-wise. The lack of female characters in Fraggle Rock show in that whenever one is invented, it's just for that one show, and you don't see them again.

Mokey? Red? Tosh? Lou? Rock Hockey Hannah?

TaralWayne In reply to Negaduck9 [2012-02-13 03:08:57 +0000 UTC]
I'm not sure what your question is. Were you suggesting I thought Mokey or Red were only characters in one episode? Pshaw. But they and the Storyteller seemed to be the only major, recurring Fraggles. I never saw Hockey Hannah but the once. Same with Wembley's girlfriend Lou. She might have been *seen* in other episodes, but I don't recall anyone speaking to her or her speaking to anyone else. Tosh is a name I don't remember, but I may have seen her.

Negaduck9 In reply to TaralWayne [2012-02-13 03:31:08 +0000 UTC]
My point is that there is a strong female presence in Fraggle Rock.
Rock Hockey Hannah apparently stayed in Fraggle Rock, as she was seen in other episodes after Playing Till It Hurts. Same for Lou; you can see her in a lot of episodes, and she has had a few lines. Her face shape and hairdo are pretty hard to miss. Tosh, a little, curly-haired Fraggle, appeared in a number of episodes, and for a little while it appeared as if there was a romance in the making between her and Boober. That faded quietly away, but the character remained.

TaralWayne In reply to Negaduck9 [2012-02-13 08:11:36 +0000 UTC]
Well, I'll meet you have way and concede there may be more of a female presence than many other shows. I still don't remember Tosh though, or her come-on to Boober. No doubt I'll notice it next time I go through all the DVD episodes.
π: 0 β©: 1
Negaduck9 In reply to TaralWayne [2012-02-13 10:25:56 +0000 UTC]
Tosh didn't come on to Boober; it seemed more that Boober was smitten with her. You can see her in Boober's Quiet Day, Playing Till it Hurts, Gobo's School for Explorers, and A Tune for Two, among others.

TaralWayne In reply to Negaduck9 [2012-02-13 23:45:08 +0000 UTC]
"Boober's Quiet Day" is the one where he lies on top of his lies and ends up pretending to be an "old Gypsie lady" isn't it? (Which is yet another female character who only appears once.) Or is it the one where he moves to the "Caves of Forgetfulness" or whatever they were called?
π: 0 β©: 1
Negaduck9 In reply to TaralWayne [2012-02-14 01:32:30 +0000 UTC]
It's the first one. Tosh is the Fraggle who asks him to pet-sit her beast. At that point he hadn't developed a crush on her; I think that starts up around Gobo's School for Explorers, when he praises her scrubbing technique.
The episode with the Caves of Forgetfulness is Boober Rock.

I'll keep an eye out for her next time. Maybe what I ought to do is what I did for Fireball XL-5 once -- I sat through the whole DVD set and made notes of every name, place and event as they happened. Ideally, I should have turned it into a book and gotten it published... but I was too much of a pessimist to have bothered.

I like how the Storyteller has boobs..... Cuz in something I have, a UK fraggle board game, there's a card with her on it and she's got noticeable boobs. :aww;

That's always seemed kinda weird to me. None of the other Fraggles have boobs, so what's up with her? Hormonal imbalance? Bun in the oven? Or is she still nursing Morris?

Well, other than Granny, she's the only other adult, female fraggle they focus on... that I'm aware of. They're most likely just for the sake of whimsy though.

Well, there's Rock Hockey Hannah, who stuck around after Playing Till it Hurts.
Whimsy? Boobs are there just for whimsy? That's... an unexpected idea. Usually people stick Boobs on Fraggles because they can't imagine anything female that isn't stacked. (Thinking of certain icky pics seen here and elsewhere...)

Phraggle In reply to Negaduck9 [2012-02-12 16:47:14 +0000 UTC]

Most mammals only have noticeable breasts when they're pregnant or nursing. I'd say that she just got lucky, but then, among a species that isn't used o seeing that, she probably just looks weird.
