Description I decided to create a new Avatar I based it on Marcus Fenix from Gears of War.

Created in DS3 using a mix of M4 and F4 a custom dial spun morph. I adapted a texture I had to make it look more like Marcus.
A pure DS3a render using UE lights no postwork.

Whoa, Niel. You're still in the happy medium between too much of a bump and too little of a bump. This still looks pretty awesome, if a little exaggerated. What was your bump map settings for this one? 120% (which is good, by the way)? Looks like you've also used the Human Surface Shader on this one.

He is meant to craggy and rough so yes I did turn the bump up stronger than usual I kept it at 100% but adjusted the positive and negative settings. I thank I went half as much again. its hard to remember the final setting as I tend to play about while I am setting up until I got the look I was after. I think I added Uber-Surface rather than HSS but they are basically the same anyway. its just that the PA's I do DS mats and test for are starting to move in that direction rather than HSS so I have been playing more with that shader to make sure I have it sorted.

i think there's one small detail you've missed: his face in-game has a texture rather like the surface of the moon!
rough, pitted and full of craters XD
odly though, i think he looks a little more like Dom :S looking good though. perfect shape of a COG soldier

I did try to do that with displacements but it did not come out quite as well as I hoped.

may need to do a few small Dformers? i know very little of displacement maps at the moment... but his face does look pretty darned craggy... everything does in the game but you have an excellent 'young fenix' design
