Description
This was a commission for . It's something from a video game called Team Fortress 2, which I don't play. If anyone can tell me what the symbol means I'd appreciate it. I've been wondering, lol.Patch is 3" across, digitised in Embird Studio, and created on a Janome 350e.
edit: I have since created rest of the TF2 designs, you can see them here: [link]

its the symbol for the Soldier, its just so that you can tell who your team is plays as in the scoreboard it appears next to their score/ping

I believe it's a rocket launcher. Or a rocket itself... It's for a soldier class and he fights with a rocket launcher so yeah that might be it.

it's the class icon for the soldier, a rocket launcher equiped class, by the way.

How much would it cost to get you to make a different one, and how long?
Because I have no idea how to go about making my engineer patch....

As you can see here: [link] I've already created all of the TF2 patches. You can visit my etsy shop here: [link] to see what they cost.

Oh, thanks for letting me know. I've seen a few ppl with TF2 costumes and the patches have always been felt or printed. I did find a person with a cosplay site who does embroidery and they sell these, but I'm thinking about doing the whole set anyways and selling them in my etsy.

do you still know the cosplay site? if so do they have a pyro costume?

kingdom-arts.org was the site, but they don't have costumes. In fact, they currently don't even have patches. I think they're mostly t-shirts.

DO IT! I just linked someone to you because they were asking about my patches. I know i have seen people go as far as ruining a perfectly good costume with poorly made patches, they don't even spring for iron ons XD If you do end up making a set tell me and i will spread the word for ya. I got a bunch of Tf2 watchers that would love patches.

NeitherSparky In reply to OhSadface [2010-03-20 23:14:08 +0000 UTC]
Okay, I'll let you know. Hey do you think people are more likely to want one or two at a time? Like, if they're doing a cosplay they'd want two of the same one, one for each arm...right? I'm thinking about offering a small discount if you buy a pair or something. How about a set of one of each in one color, would people want that? Let me know what you think people would want. And what's with the "sandvich" symbol, should I do a patch of that too or is that something people wouldn't really want to buy?
π: 0 β©: 1
OhSadface In reply to NeitherSparky [2010-03-21 02:47:42 +0000 UTC]
Ok the two patch idea is the best way to go. You do not need to do the sandvitch patch at all because it is not used, luckily you also do not need to do patches for (The Spy, or Scout) because they do not wear there emblems. The only ones you would want to make are Soldier, Heavy, Demoman, Engineer, Medic, and sniper.
These are the symbols:
(The ones with a * next to them are most often cosplayed)
Soldier: [link]
*Heavy: [link]
**Pyro: [link]
***Engineer: [link]
**Medic: [link]
*Sniper: (ok the hi-resolution one of his is inacurate the best example of it is in this piece, of coarse without the character and such, just the target) [link]
Demoman: (again the hi-res is wrong this is the best thing i could find with it, essentually its a stick of dynamite with a sparking fuse) [link]
Ok so basically the design itself is either the red you used on my soldier patch or a blue close to the one on the upper left corner here:[link] the design is set upon a circle of yellow like the ones you did for me with the design within the circle so that some yellow is around the design itself.like these basically XD [link] her demoman and sniper design are pretty accurate.
Hope all that helps XDDDD

I thought the demoman was a round bomb with a sparking fuse? I found an artist here who had all the symbols in their gallery and that's what they had. [link] Can you take a look and tell me if those are wrong?
This is really helpful, thank you! I did buy the game but it confuses me so I remain clueless.
π: 0 β©: 1
OhSadface In reply to NeitherSparky [2010-03-21 05:50:22 +0000 UTC]
lol yeah they made the ones i linked you to, but the round bomb is inaccurate, that was one of the first designs for it but not the one used in the game. Same goes for the sniper one the outermost ring of the design is way to thick.
The game takes alot of getting used to, i suggest starting as a soldier or a pyro and watching a couple tutorial videos on youtube XD
also you have competition i didn't know about D: [link]

i made a mistake on the sniper one just a minor one, if you look at his armband here [link] that's the way its supposed to look XD But everything looks great! as i said before you wont need to make as many spy or scout ones because they don't actually where their patches

Okay I updated the image, can you check again? I can't see the one in the game screenshot that well so I don't know if its right.
Anyways someone had asked me for 2 scouts so I decided to just make all of them, just in case.

As you've been told, most of the classes have symbols on their arms. Let's see if I can remember them...
Solider - Rocket
Sniper - Crosshairs
Pyro - Flame
Demoman - Dynomite
Medic - Medic symbol [ + ]
Engineer - Wrench
Heavy Weapons Guy - Bullet
There are two other classes [Spy and Scout], but they don't have symbols.
This is awesome BTW, as is your whole gallery.

I'm pretty sure the symbol is a rocket from a rocket launcher, and its the patch from a certain type of class of player.
Awesome patch!

Yeah I figured it was some sort of class thing, but I tried searching the web for a site that would show all TF2 classes and their badges and came up with nothing.
