i think using layers properly is kinda impossible if you dont use photoshop oO!! i use Gimp 2.6 and i kinda cant understand the whole layer thing >_👍: 0 ⏩: 2
I use GIMP, too and I have full control of my layers.

Try looking for it under the View or Tools menu. It's a separate pop-up. If not, try looking at tutorials.

This is a very helpful tutorial. I'm just starting to learn how photoshop works so I really appreciate these tips.
I never figured that you should lock a layer once you're done coloring it and have often accidentally colored on the wrong layer because of that. Now, it won't happen thanks to your tutorial!
Also, the ordering of layers is helpful since I never know where to begin.
