And so begins the true discovery of good and bad sides.Ian told Rove about Zie's source of discontent during the World Domination Orb war. This empowered Rove to win over Zie's heart so that she can return to her old self, just like the way he wanted from the very beginning.
Also, because Ian did this for Zie, Rove saw him as an ally instead of an enemy, so he befriended him. He did not disclose his friendship with Ian to his group and Ian didn't say anything either. This is how Ian (sorta) fits in both sides. To make this clear, Ian was a close friend of Zie when they were little and he was also the one who saved Zie from her burning house.
What makes this even more perfect of a scenario is that Liang once mentioned how Ginn can't possibly belong to the bad side, link here nek0nerd0.deviantart.com/art/M… , and she is Ian's love interest. The reason Rove asked him to get her. Another trivia, Ginn was a close classmate of Rove when they were little, along with Zeek and Fealis.
