Description
this took hours to edit and complete.its mainly for blackmago he cant buy cell phone charm straps where he lives. so this is to show him how to make them ^^
its also for everyone to help them. you dont have to attach a lobster clasp you could just attach it to your charms using jump rings like i usually do ^^
if you would like me to make more tutorials note me and say what you would like me to make a tutorial for n_n.
i hope this helps you <3

This is a great tutorial...I think it would be a bit easier to use a crimp with a hook (like this: [link] ) rather than a crimp bead because then you don't need the calotte. Thank you for the tutorial!

Wouldn't it be more stable to use a crimping pliers on the crimp bead? Is it because by using the crimping pliers the wire would fall through the calotte/bead tip? And.. if so, wouldn't it have a higher chance of the tiger tail being pulled out of the crimp and bead tip without any epoxy to make sure it stays in there after repeated use?

neko-crafts In reply to thejes [2007-06-12 04:36:37 +0000 UTC]
umm.. that might be the pliers i used. the have kind of a seration to them? like a zig zag. ; _ ; its my first tutorial... if you put the tigertail in the middle the aply force to either side of it then onto the middle it will stay. ive not had any crimps come ungripped. and i make charms and jewelry alot.

thejes In reply to neko-crafts [2007-06-12 19:26:06 +0000 UTC]
Hrm.. well, the pliers you show in the pictures of your tutorial is a chain nose pliers I believe? And the way the crimp looks flattened doesn't look like a crimp would if a pair of crimping pliers were used (It would look more like a really weird 'U' until it was folded over and crimped the second time.
But I do like the idea of the bead tip being used in this manner. I normally only used them when I was working with seed beads - but my company's designer just actually finished up a project where she uses them with tiger tail as well.

i use the calottes for almost anything. necklaces and bracelets. but the idea to use them for charm strap seemed good
i'll have to look into the crimp pliers.
