I use Photoshop and this is my first time doing cell shading. This has brought me to the conclusion that I'm already probably making a mistake with the multiply layer. I was wondering if you could offer any advice?
So I colored dear Rosebud separate from her line art as to insure if I want future shading, I do not mess up my initial lines. I am currently stalled on the multiply layer where the program is not making any lines at all. Yes, I am aware the multiply setting makes darker shades and I also clipped the layer to the other.

So you cannot draw on the multiply layer is what you're saying ? Could you please send me a screenshot of your layers so I can see the problem
And you should always color on a different colors than the lines, so you're doing good!

un tutoriel complet et très bien expliqué qui ira directement dans ma collection.
j'utilise aussi différentes couleurs de base pour le shading en fonction du personnage, le rose aussi souvent.
c'est vrai qu'ajouter des dégradés à ses ombres donnent plus de vivant, du réalisme. 100% d'accord avec tout. c:
