Description
I decided to re-build the old Flux Capacitor that came with my 1981 DMC-12 DeLorean. The original had solenoids made out of stacked washers, clear plastic tubes and an etched-crystal light base. Needless to say, that just did not look right. So I tore out the majority of the interior parts, keeping just the back plate, Spark Plug wires and box, and re-built the rest from scratch. For the Solenoids and Chroniton Energy Alignment Crystals, I molded them out of clay, then created a rubber and latex molds, which I then cast the pieces out of resin.
The Flux Singularity Capaciators were built out of Bic pens, glass beads and thin wire. Each one has a unique set of wires inside, created by twisting the different colors together using a drill.
For the illumination, I found some LED strips at Wal-Mart. These have various modes to them, so with the press of a button (placed next to the power switch), I can alter the flash pattern. These in turn illuminate the cast-resin crystals, making the entire piece pulse and flash brilliantly!
