Description
So we finally have picks of the 38th Super Sentai due out Feb of 2014 and it's train themed. But the designs....uggg. So bland. So I took it into Photoshop to show what a simple little change could do to make it more appealing to me. And while I was there I made a second variant (silver) it's surprise with a little color can do for a design eh? Which do you like best?
2/5/2014 update: By popular request Black body, Gold and white limb variants.
2/15/2014 update: By request added gold, white, and silver body variants. Also adjusted the previous gold and silver variants to make them a bit more bright/metalic instead of a dull yellow and a gray

Black, White, Gold, and Silver body variants reminds me of Dairangers, and Black, White, Gold, and Silver limb variants reminds me of Hurricangers too.

The white body gives me dairanger vibes, but I like the black limbs best

the funny thing is it probably would have cost them less money to go with colored limbs by making the chest a layered vest thye would only need a black body suit (which is so standard you can order it over amazon) and then 5 sets in each color of the Vest instead of 5 sets of 5 custom suits

I'm really liking the Silver Variant. It really works aesthetically.

for the limbs i think any of trhem work but none of the body variants really work for me

The shade of gold for the bottom row do not look that great on the ToQgers. The others are fine.

yeah getting actual gold and silver on what is essentialy desaturation tweaking on the pick isn't ever going to be perfect but tis isnt me making 9 actual suits i'm recoloring photos as a point of reference

It's just the shade of gold you used didn't reflect very well. But I do like the 6th member being orange is very refreshing from the trend with metallic colors.

the real porblem is gold isn't really a shade, it's basicly orange-yellow with shines. Same with Grey and silver the only real difference is the reflectivlyness and when doing these quick suit recolors that would mean custim shading. I'm not about to go into my photshop layers and spend a hour making a custom shine layer when shading is already my weak point.

i can do it but i think it would be the same, it just doesn't really work when their actual Ranger color is a acess not the main color

Maybe the original has just grown on me but i like it although your variants are amazing i like the black one but it just seems a little to evil silver looks better

Pure color only looks good when done right, like the Kakuranger suits. These definitely need a little more color to them.

I'm indifferent to Geki's, but I will say that they don't look like an eyesore. Hopefully next years looks better.

Yeah and Geki's made sense with the theme too. Maybe if Toqger's had the train tracks all over the suit, instead of just crossing the chest, they would make sense. Kinda makes you wonder what the rejected concepts looked like for them to pick this design.

some time the rejects looks real cool. One for Kyuryuger has a very zyuryuger vibe which i liked quite a bit

I think a couple of rejected ones I liked, but it might've been for a season that already had cool looking suits so it must be hard to choose sometimes.
I will say that what is cool about these suits is that they are interchangeable.

By the way, these black/silver costumes really giving me the vibe of black "undercostume" + colored tunic, like they've done in the J. J. Abrams Star Trek, which could be nice IMHO.

it's basicly the same thingthve done for Huricanger/Ninja Storm, MagiRanger/Mystic Force, heck even Kyoyouger di the same (at least with the arm) so i just went with the precident, it's simple but effective

I like both the silver & Black updates to the suits. They look LOADS better.

yeah i think the main problem with the original is well 2 fold.
one the top is clearly a vest but the undershirt and vest are the exact same color which looses lazy
2: the chest detail is so small it doesn't really break up the desigh like say GekiRanger/Jungle Fury did. They got away with a montone suit because the torso had a lot of decalling along it
