Description (WARNING! Please do not fave or comment here. If you would like to then please do so at the link [link] I reuploaded it on my new account!)

The first Twilight book summed up in one drawing, as well as the personalities of Edward and Bella. Did Edward mention he was dangerous?

I can't believe some teens are calling this crap the next equivalent Harry Potter

the only people who'd enjoy this are woman who devour romance novels like no tomorrow, anyone who considers themselves emos or even likes emos (which is NOT a good thing), and anyone who's obssessed with fanfics done by middle school girls cause that's what the story is like, A FANFIC just without any fandom to whore to.

excuse me while I go watch Buffy and enjoy seeing some vampires get the shit beat out of them

Twilight and characters belong to Stephenie Meyer
art belongs to me

Hehe yeah.
There are plenty more of amazing books out there.
But people are convinced they will never measure up to them so they bash them instead.

What is your problem? Twilight is better than Harry Potter in every way. How long did it take JK rowling to get to the top of the bestseller list? A while. How long did it take Stephenie to beat that? Four years. A lot less time. Go jump off a cliff.

I looked up the bestseller list for fiction novels as where Harry Potter is at the very top of the list, scroll down past Nancy Drew and Captain Underpants...there the Twilight series is, at the bottom!

BTW, Harry Potter was actually on bestseller several WEEKS after it's release! Kids at my school counted down the days for the first book to be released. Twilight was released in like, 2001 and is now finally popular in 2008. It takes several YEARS for Twilight to be a bestseller.

A lot more time.

JK Rowling is not an American author. Obviously she will first have to gain recognition in her own country, then move on to take over the United States. This gives S.Meyer a slight advantage, being an American author, so there really isn't any blatant comparison between the two :S

Yeah, and Twilight is written like a cheap romance novel, whereas Harry Potter is actually written as an author should write it. It makes you think; Twilight is a self-inserting piece of literary trash that appeals to those who never read, and the "lonely and/or desperate teenage girl" demographic, something that is willing to lap up anything that make themselves feel better regardless of how much it costs.

<3 Thanks for being a sheep to the crowd and not really improving yourself.

I would like to point out that your stereotyping is completely unjust.

personally, im insulted by your view of 'twilight fans'. I enjoyed the books, they might not be litery genius but they were enjoyable, and im looking forward to seeing the movie.

Also, i dont understand why people believe that Twilight is in some sort of competition with Harry Potter, the stories are completely different, and written by different people, they have no connection to each other what so ever.

personally, i dont believe i fit in your lonely and/or desperate demographic, and id also like to point out that fans of Twilight are also able to read other books. Just because i enjoyed the Twilight saga does not mean i am some illiterate unimaginiative Idiotic young girl.

you might not like the Twilight books, but this does not mean that A- they therefore MUST be rubbish, or B- that you are allowed to be rude in such a way.

everyone is allowed their opinion, but please dont shove it down people throats and claim it as truth, could you also refrain from insulting anyone who disagrees with you in such an obvious and un-necessary way

By your inability to use proper punctuation and grammar, you prove my point that said people will not be able to enjoy real literature.

I have been studying Twilight as a cultural phenomenon a lot lately and my points are very valid: the books are written like romance novels, which are typically self-insertion pieces written specifically to allow one to project yourself onto the main characters without actually having to think. They were pitched to hormonal teenage girls who have no real literary frame of reference, and who lap up the escapist fantasy world the book creates.

Now, as for you.
Your gallery is full of fanart, which tells me that you *do* tend to be unimaginative since you only create art derived from others' characters. Your typing errors and grammatical errors smack of your being quite juvenile or inexperienced. You give me no valid reason to LIKE Twilight, whereas I give sensible arguments as to why the books are bad, and how.

Your argument is rather easily dealt with, and I think you're just angry that someone challenged something you like. Until you can argue coherently and back your answers up with textual evidence or facts, please do not attempt to.

It isn't about liking a book I dislike. If that were the case, I would insult several of my friends for enjoying Dickens. That is their right, but at least they like something with some real value versus a piece of fanfic escaped from the internet. The fact of the matter is that I am right: the majority of fans *are* hormonal preteens/teens who lap up the romance-novel style. Those people have quite a small literary frame of reference in most cases and do not know how to discern. However, they garner my scorn when they go on screaming fits about how great this book is, how it will be a piece of classical literature, etc. It may be enjoyable, but it is by no means good.

As for what I think of you: I tend to dismiss anyone who grew up in the technology age as you and I both did, and who cannot make an effort to type well and appear literate. Were you someone with limited exposure to technology, I could forgive you, but you're obviously not.

charmed-tuesday In reply to IHeartChaosTheory [2008-12-02 21:03:20 +0000 UTC]

I'm not saying everyone has to like Twilight, quite the opposite, I just don't understand why you feel you must insult people simply becasue they enjoy a book you dont like.

In a litery sense, the books may not be genius, but they are enjoyable and just because they are easy to read does not mean that only simple-minded people could possibly read them. Just becasue someone likes Twilight, thats does not sum them up. They can still love the classics and such, lots of people simply enjoy the books becasue of their escapist value, they are fun and easy to read and get sucked into.

I cannot possibly back my argument up with facts becasue I am not trying to argue that Twilight is good, thats up to your personal opinion. I was cross becasue you are insulting many people, most of whom you dont know anything about, and such a generalised stereotype is unessecary.

I wont bother arguing my case agaisnt your insulting view of me, this is not an argument concerning my typos or grammatical errors. You dont even know me, and I think it is quite pathetic that you feel the need to judge me simply becasue of a book I enjoyed.

There is no need to insult me here, this disscussion was about books, not your personal view on the fans who enjoyed the saga.

Here's what's wrong with your arguement.

First, "a while." It took JK Rowling "a while" to make best-seller. Ok. What does that mean? A month? A year? A decade? An eterity? A while can be a few minutes, for crying out loud.

And second, the Harry Potter series is known in just about -every- civilized nation in the world, spanning five continent, or six if I'm counting wrong. That's almost the entire world.

If Twilight's such a wonderful book, why have I never heard of it until the movie was advertised?

Go jump off a cliff, child.

*laughs hysterically* Better in everyway? Just what are you smoking?

First off which series got millions of people to read wirldwide? Which one became a cultural phenomenon? Which one was better recieved by critics and the general population? Why I believe it was Harry Potter.

Twilight..... hmmmmmmm. lets review

reads like some horrible fanfic
the characters are the definition of Mary Sues and are so incredibly vapid and one note that it's ridiculous
and half of the story is either Bella gushing over how incredibly perfect in everyway Edward is despite how he treats her like crap or Edward hanging near Bella all the time and reminding her how dangerous he is

the story is an insult to the written medium and belongs on Fanfic.net, not in bookstores

wanna know why Twilight is on the bestseller list? Because of the spending power a legion of highschool girls who gush over angsty romance novels can create. Besides dog shit could be on the bestseller list but it doesn't mean it's any good. Bestseller =/= good book

now please get off the internet and read something that actually has some worth, instead of whining on the net cause someone doesn't like some overhyped series. Why dont you read something like the Great Gatsby, Alice in Wonderland, or the friggen distionary or something.

and honestly it's not hard to provide a good arguement without resorting to telling people "go jump off a cliff" cause you just prove my point that twilight fans are insane

please dont stearotype ALL twilight fans in this way, we have feelings too y'know
personally, i love the books (mostly) but i am aware they have there failings-

I know there are probably much better books out there, but that dosent mean that Twilight must therefore be complete shite, personaly, i dont rate the great Gatsby that high, but that dosent mean its not good, it just means i dont like it.

also, id like to take a moment to point out that i have read The Great Gatsby and Alice in Wonderland (BTW, you spelt dictionary wrong) and just because you read twilight dosent mean you couldn't possibly read "good" books too

Im not saying everyone has to love twilight, thats ridiculous, every book/film has its haters, but flaming fans is just pathetic and judgemental.

You are welcome to your opinion, but more often than not, you just seem to be insulting people.

Just 'cause of the books people read dosent mean there any less nice/intelligent ect.

Some don't stereotype all Twilight fans like what you said, it's just that some are teeny-weeny bit too rabid about it...I heard that some fans go physical on those who just said they don't like Twilight.

Don't mind me here, I hate Twilight, but I understand you. *pats*

Besides, most fangirls are like that.

charmed-tuesday In reply to ZlayaHozyayka [2009-05-20 09:24:47 +0000 UTC]

I'm not saying they all stereotype fans, thats the entire point of my argument- people are sterotyping both haters and fans and it's not ok.

Yes, some fans are to rabid about it, and yes some of them might start fights about it. Thats not a reaosn to judge all fans though, and there are people who hate twilight who are just as bad. There are always two sides to an argument, and while some fans take it to far, some haters do exactly the same thing.

Besides, you should never start a defense with 'some don't stereotype all Twilight fans' only to end with a very generalized 'most fangirls are like that'. You just look like a hypocrite now.

ZlayaHozyayka In reply to charmed-tuesday [2009-05-20 10:01:13 +0000 UTC]

Whoops. Sorry about that.

Sometimes I'm kind of screwed-up while making comments (must be the music or the food I'm eating..or both), so sorry about the 'most fangirls are like that' thingy. I did not mean the most part; there are times when I'm not thinking thoroughly what I'm saying (typing, in this case).

However, if I mean to say 'most', I said most, not all. True, it's also generalized, but not very generalized' Those two are different.

...

Okay, that was pointless.
nvm.
