Again, I don't look to man first. God and the Bible must go first.

Genesis 1:5
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Exodus 20:8-11
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work... For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Numbers 15:32-36
And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day... And the Lord said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died.

Matthew 12:1-2, 8
At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day... For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

I cannot interpret "evening and morning" as anything other than a 24 hour day. So yes, the creation week is literal. This is backed up later in Exodus, where God commands the Jews work six days and rest the seventh (sabbath) as He did. Disobeying is punishable by death as seen in Numbers. If the Jews had misinterpreted what God actually meant, there was room for correction when the issue of the sabbath is brought to Jesus in Matthew 12.

Let me clarify my view: I find there are two kinds of evolution...

1. TRUE evolution: "survival of the fittest", weaker animals die out allowing the species as a whole to improve subtly but surely. This is what Darwin originally wrote, can be proven.

2. FALSE evolution: animals can grow or discard limbs, monkeys are ancestors of humans. This is what anti-thiets added to Darwin's notes, unlike the first one it is based off of assumptions and can't be proven.

The second was made to contradict the Bible and so cannot coexist alongside it, the first however can. God most likely incorporated it into the world after the fall so that all animal may survive.

I strongly agree though that In the end all you need to believe in is the Bible, God, and Jesus Christ. I apologize for the confusion my original post may have made. May God bless.

Technically, common ancestry is demonstrated not only with physiology comparison, but with genetic comparison. As such, we, homo sapiens,  are part of the homonidae, with the pans, the gorilla and the pongos. The same way homindae are parts of the hominoidae which includes all tailless apes.. The hominoidae are part of the haplorhinis, the haplorhinis are part of the primates, the primates are part of the placental mammals, the placentals are part of the synapsids, the synapsids are part of the amniotes. The amniotes are part of the tetrapods, the tetrapods are part of the vertebrate, the vertebrates are part of the chordates.  The chordates are part of the deusteromia who, themselves, are part of the animals and the animals, with the plants and fungus, are part of the eukaryotes.
It's all demonstrable.

Nothing of what you said proves common ancestry...

Melnazar In reply to Corvus-the-Snark [2014-11-05 22:21:12 +0000 UTC]

Except of course comparative physiology and especially comping the genomes. This way you can find not only the common genes but in particular find the endogenous retroviral insertion (ERV) inside the genome. Are you familiar with the concept of ERVs?

Sorry, but evading the question won't validate your claim. Viral insertion in the genome is still evidence for common ancestry. The same can be said for particular genetic traits. Per instance, every single haplorhinis has a vitamin C producing genes that is not-working unlike the strepsirrhines. Guess who is part of the haplorhini? The anthropoids (of which we are part of) and the tarsiers. This single gene is evidence that we share a common ancestor (as well as evidence that there is no such thing as an intelligent designer for such a blunder leads to scurvy).

I don't care that they believed in God back then. That's not evidence. Just like how Egyptians believed in gods (who predate your own god) during their era isn't proof that they exist, it's the same case with yours.

Do you have evidence to prove that evolution isn't real? And I mean real evidence, not "becuz God" garbage. If you do, let me see it so I can give you my own evidence to prove it true.

but why would they if he's not "real" why was the bible the most sold book besides Alamanac and unlike history books the bible tells the past , present and future but it was written thousands of years ago so how would they know?

Just because most people are gullible, stupid human beings who can't tell reality from fantasy is not an argument to anything. Millions bought the book, wow! That's not evidence of anything. Twilight & 50 Shades of Grey sold millions too, does that make them good? No, it doesn't. What futures does it talk about? All those lunatic claims that HUNDREDS of other lunatic preachers go around making? Wow, that's amazing! Maybe I should write a book that tells the future, & I'll call it "Humanity 100years from now if the Bible takes over our Earth: The rise of stupid & dark ages again."

more than one person wrote the bible and its more than once been called a story but it mentions several things that has already happened, and my science book taught evolution it only had 2 pages and didn't even tell me anything really us christian can give you pages upon pages of things about God.

Just because you read a few pages of evolution from a basic science book isn't the end of it. There's HUNDREDS of sources that proves evolution is real. From fossil & bone records, to fish that are developing feet right now to walk on land. You have pages of pages to say things from the bible? That's nice, too bad they aren't backed up by real, proven & tested evidence. You ask science a truly difficult question, such as how we are created, they will give you pages upon pages of solutions, & maybe short sweet & straight to the point answers that have been already proven too. Science has MANY different articles & books about evolution, & they change often because they keep discovering new evidence.

What's the difference between science & faith? That science has evidence, & when the evidence is wrong, & they ADMIT it. Faith says "I believe", will insult or even hurt you to prove it right (which it won't anyways), will give no real proven & concrete evidence (again, just claims), ignore contradicting evidence, & end it there. Hell, some will even LIE to prove their points true. Do you see how you completely ignored my question about proving evolution as a lie? That's what I mean. All you did was give me speculations & "God".

and the difference is we have one God they have  one for everything but while they prayed to their gods nothing happened like during the 10 plagues ,every plague had something to do with a one of there fake gods and the reason why it wasnt recorded by people from egypt was because they scratch out things they dont like

You DO realize that the plagues happened mostly in Christian areas? Why do you think it's called the Dark Ages? Hundreds upon thousands of Christians prayed for this plague to stop, & did it? No, because God isn't real, & because it's the exact same as every other fake gods. And if God is real, the clearly he doesn't care about anyone who had to suffer during those plagues, just like he didn't care about those who lived through the Holocaust, & how he doesn't care about those who are suffering now.

Do you think praying will save your life when you're in critical condition at a hospital? Will it cure amputees? No, because that's what SCIENCE does.

because they scratch out things they dont like

LMAO You mean just like what Christians do when they preach the bible? ou know, they talk about how God is good, how he loves his people, & how "sinners" are going to hell? But not talk about the verses that support rape, belittling women, killing disobedient kids, killing non-believers, & slavery? Do you ever hear preachers or any other bible thumper preach those verse? No, because just like cherry picking Christians only pick the parts they like & talk about the "good" ones. (When in reality any person who has actually read the ENTIRE bible knows how full of atrocities it is).

and i wonder how it feels to people if they tell their kids "oh you randomly happened its not like you know whatever theres no after life so you basically serve no purpose, wait your purpose is to make a purpose so you can be totally reckless and have no self control, its ok to lie and take drugs because it doesnt matter!

Wow, do you even READ what you type? That is EXACTLY what Christians tell ANYONE who isn't a believer, & tells themselves. Christians go around saying "If there is no God, then life is pointless" or "You can't know what love, morals, & life really mean if you don't accept God", & my favorite "You are an abomination for not believing in my God! You will burn in hell like the worthless Satan worshipper you are!". Christians just love pretending that people cannot be happy, or good or even know what life is about without god. Because common sense doesn't exist to any of you, nope, God is the only reason you should be alive for. Fuck you career & life if you don't believe in God.

It will only make sense to you it you understand it. If you don't know a thing about evolution (which by your current method of rebating, you clearly don't) then of course it won't make sense to you. If you don't even knew basic biology you have no idea what goes on, & this since you don't even understand evolution you have absolutely NO REASON to say it isn't possible or even makes sense. Either educate yourself on both biology & evolution or don't even bother arguing.

Proof that evolution is still taking place, starting with these fish who are learning to walk on land www.mcgill.ca/newsroom/channel… & the latter:

Elephants evolving news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/180…

Fish evolving to become immune to the toxic waste in their water news.nationalgeographic.com/ne… (and they're doing it FAST compared to other types of evolution)

Certain species of lizards are now developing longer legs m.livescience.com/7655-lizards… & lets not forget how the legless lizard species is actually LOSING all of its limbs since it doesn't need them (perfect design by God my ass).

The peppered moths have evolved brilliantly to adapt NOT only to trees, but also to the pollution www.millerandlevine.com/km/evo… (a good 98% of them changed almost to black within 50 years).

Let's also not forget the new Grolar Bear www.onearth.org/article/grolar… babies that are ALSO fertile (not a genetic hybrid that doesn't work like others). The polar bears have decided to do this due to the climate change that's happening where they live, & thus they need their species o evolve with reproduction.

Oh, & finally there is perfect fossil records of jellyfish being well around 500 million years old m.livescience.com/1971-oldest-… which is far older than what you & other religious people claim the earth to be.

because 7 is the number of completion(its a bible thing you wouldnt under stand) but now ask me some questions about God , that is unless your scared for me to answer them for you knowing i'll be right

Frisby-2007 In reply to pantheratigris10 [2016-01-12 20:35:41 +0000 UTC]

Theres a difference between adaption & evolution, but since that's the only argument you're arguing about, & clearly ignoring the other clear evidence I gave you there's no point in going further. The fossils are of jellyfish, & what?

The world won't end in "7,000" years because the earth is older than that, it's already been proven, & you ignored it. All claims of the earth ending never happens, & it never will. Not until another hundreds of thousand of years when the sun dies out.

Asking me to ask you about God is a clear sign that you're desperate to jabber on about your false claims. I'll repeat, nothing in the bible is true, & anyone who thinks its is, without any clear evidence to back it up, is as ignorant as they come. If you're right about what you say about God then my car is a real Transformer.

I have read parts of the bible and its a horrible book.  God isn't a fact. As someone that is an athiest, I believe life is way more important than someone who believes in god , you know why? Because this life is all I got. After I die I'm dead, there isn't a heaven or a hell. Life is rare. Let me ask you, do you wear a seat belt? Do you make sure to not do dangerous things? Because if you really believe in heaven, why would you? You die, you get to go party with your sky daddy. Also about the whole "accident" part, yes humans do not have a purpose per say just like any other animal. We make our own purpose. Sorry that you feel useless without a mythical magic man.

Excuses. If you truly believed in heaven you would be reckless. But its human nature to not take those chances because deep down in your brain you know this is our only life. Humans are animals, we are just very intelligent ones, that is another fact.  Actually I was a Christian most of my life, then I turned 11 and realized it wasn't true, just like santa. I believed in god, jesus all that bs. But while I was crying and having panic attacks as a child, I realized, life is just unfair, and it isn't because some mythical creature didn't love me. I grew up. I guess this is the first time outside of your christian bubble, its about time someone popped it and let you get a little taste of something called Reality. some Christians don't realize mostly kids don't realize God isn't some big sugar daddy in the sky we have rules
and it makes sense you started to not believe at a young age yes life is unfair but sometimes have you ever thought there was bad times to bring people closer together the bible says ask and you shall find it all depends on the purpose like if i asked for a 1000 bucks it would depend what it was for and if i truly mean it turning away from God just because he doesn't give you everything you want doesn't mean he's not there sometimes his answers yes sometimes no and most times you have to wait. but honestly the bible was written thousands of years ago God told people what to write in it 2 timothy 4:3-4 says for there will come a time when they will not tolerate sound doctrine to their own desires, will accumulate  teachers for themselves  because they have an itch to hear something new they will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths. and God will forgive you if you ask for forgiveness and would God want me to be reckless?no  one rule is self control and God loves everyone and whether you want me to or not i will pray for you

No my childhood wasn't the only reason why. When I was about, I'd say 12, maybe 13, I started to research evolution. I was amazed. It made me feel amazing, it made my whole out look on life happier. I realized my life wasn't just some thing that could happen easily. Do you realize how amazing it is that we have survived so far? We've made it to the freaking MOON and back. Not because of god, because of science and intelligence. The sooner people stop believing in god and realizing facts, the faster we can learn, we can grow stronger and stronger. We may not know the origin of life yet, we may not ever know. But I'd rather not know and keep learning and helping research, than have a quick and ridiculous answer. By the way, I do not accept the bible as a valid arguement. It is pretty much like saying that spiderman exists because "Book says he does". I reccomend you do more research on evolution, and actually give it a chance. You can believe in god and evolution. After all, I gave god more than half of my life.

That is the thing, We didn't evolve from monkeys. He evolved from a common ancestor. This shows me you don't even get the basics of how we evolved. Also I have "prayed for forgiveness" What did I get? Nothing. Only when I gave up god did I feel better. I know fairy tales like God comfort some, Death is hard to handle, so is the fact that we have no purpose. But I can't lie to myself like you and others can. I am done here, you are proven you don't even CARE to even learn about our true origin, you, like most religious people can't admit that what you've known is just not correct. That is why I love science, if a scientist learns they are wrong, they don't take it personally. They man up, admit they where wrong, and continue to seek answers. True ones

well. there is a form of a evolving but not like. one things changing into a different animal. animals and humans change for the elements. evolving into something better and strong. but not like with one thing. its over time. a wolf wouldn't look the same a 1000 years ago.

though I don't believe the big bang theory. or a cat changing into a dog. natural selection is a slow evolution. and since natural selection is a fact. evolution of this kind is a fact.

it's really interesting to study. like many in the wild there are many factors that limit change. like the food chain, weather and area they are in, finding a mate. illness and getting hurt. like if you were to take say a polar bear and put it in the area of a grizzle bear. full adults they would both die. but if they were raised young in a different area. they change and there offspring would change. or something different is with breeding and breeders. golden retrievers come from wolves. they look very different behave different( well have their own thing..they will still carry their wolf pack instinks. all dog breeds do) anyways a wolf had a different look or feature. maybe behaviour. so they try to find another wolf or dog with that same behaviour and try to breed it into the off spring. its slow but there is some degree of evolution or evolving. which we can't fully deny its not there. even with humans how each race is different.

random thought but funny in my mind. nowadays our smarts are the biggest weapons and warriors of old aren't used. and people say back then the strong ruled and the weak died or whatever. but wait a minute. if your strong. you need something else to be strong. you need smarts. a warrior of old couldn't be strong. then he or she wouldn't be just strong. fighting on will power but no mind..makes you DUMBbell strong. a true warrior would be wise, smart and strong. ha my pun is stupid. which would be deevoleing in a way. XD
