Description "So you want to teach creationism in our schools? Ok. Let us teach evolution in your church, then."

Inspired by a bumper sticker I saw on zee interwebz.

I do love poking fun at creationists, I'm sorry

I feel your pain. And every kid had to do it, it wasn't ALWAYS a christian school but some new headmistress came in and she was all like "NOPE. CHRISTIANITY IS THE ONLY RELIGION I'LL TEACH, BITCHES." It was horrible. Every day you had to sing songs like "Praise O Lord Our Holy Sav-"Β

Me: Quick question, what happens if your atheist? c:

Headmistress: YOU BURN IN HELL FOR ALL FUCKING ETERNITY!Β

Me: D:

I mean, Christianity doesn't bother me, but.. WHY. WHY WOULD YOU FORCE KIDS TO SING SONGS THEY HATE. They weren't even nice to listen too, they were bland. ;A;

me and my younger brother both went to christian nurseries.

me and both my brothers went to christian primaries.

my sister didn't because when my parents married she was about 16.... D:

I agree they shouldn't teach creationism in school, but they shouldn't each either. The thing is going to church is a option. Going to school, for people betweenΒ specific ages is not a choice.

I don't believe God is a specific being or thing that was just "made". I think God is everywhere. So yeah, I think He was always there, and cannot be created or destroyed.

here's the thing. PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE NOT ATHEIST INSTITUTIONS. they are for ALL RELIGIONS. but instead of embracing all religions, we have LEVELED DOWN as a society. i don't really want to teach creationism in schools, but at the same time I DON'T WANT CHRISTIAN KID TO BE FORCED TO REMOVED THEIR CRUCIFIX/ROSARY NECKLACE BECAUSE IT IS OFFENSIVE TO SOME LITTLE ATHEIST OR MUSLIM BASTARD THAT'S MORE THAN WELCOME TO SHOW THEIR MINORITY BELIEFS. I'M SURE IF THE ATHEISTS HAD ANY PARAPHERNALIA THEY WOULDN'T BE ASKED TO REMOVE IT, AND IF THEY WHERE, THATS WRONG WE NEED TO STOP DUMBING DOWN.

RoyallGalaxy In reply to JuanAtaquito [2013-07-03 05:28:28 +0000 UTC]

i get ya, but i dont know of a lot of schools the force the removing of religious symbols, i am wiccan and have never been asked to remove my pentacle, and i have never seen a christian forced to remove their cross, and there is no "minority" religion, all religons are equal, but the number of people in each my vary. also, a rosary is not a necklace, it is an item of prayer, not meant to be worn.

also, i dont know if you are, but you sounded very raciest when you said "Muslim bastard". the word bastard means you didnt know your father, and i am sure their bastards in all religions.Β

also, schools are not atheist institutions, and they are not meant for all religions like you said, school are learning institutions, church and school are separate. please know your facts before commenting back.Β

JuanAtaquito In reply to RoyallGalaxy [2013-07-06 02:06:11 +0000 UTC]

Ooh wow, i really should have slept on that one! I gett pretty opinionated on the topic of religion..

Anyway, when i was in kindergarten i was forced to tuck in my crucifix necklace because one of the parents felt "it didnt belong" i objected, i was punished and my parents where called, they took my side, and in the end, i just ended up transfering to a catholic school.
FYI, in the catholic faith, rosaries can be worn as a necklace out of devotion if it is used, although most of the folks that wear them nowadays dont pray with them, im one of the few that still do. Im not sure the wiccan teachings on rosaries, so i may be wrong.

I do agree that all religions are equal, but their are minority religions. Its just like saying blacks and hispanics are minorities, but they are just as human as whites are, just as equal.

I dont consider myself racist, because in every group their are good, hard working, honest people. i do however stereotype, but i try to do so reasonablyThe term bastard was not directly aimed at muslims, as their are bastards in every different religion. I dont hate all muslims or all atheists, just the ones that think they can stop others from practicing their faith so they or their children will not be offended. Bastard in this context was not used as a term for not knowing ones father, but just as a derogitory term.

Yes, i do agree that public schools are meant primarily for learning, but public schools nowadays are sheltering everybody in a padded little box without religion, race, ethnicity and violence, and then the children are released into a world where all of this stuff exists in plenty, they dont know how to handle it because they are not tought what christianity or hinduism or wicca or judaism is. Why? Because it offends people. But in the real world, people get offended, its the way the world works!

Hmmm, what is creationism exactly?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nekromanda In reply to SplashTehKittehx3 [2013-06-25 13:27:20 +0000 UTC]

It's the idea that life, the world, the universe, etc, all came into experience because a designer (like God) made it so, and not through natural means (such as the scientific explanations we have offered to us today).

It was actually quite the opposite for me, our school taught evolution whilst I was a christian kid. I didn't mind though, it was there belief and they were aloud to have it. As long as they weren't insulting mine, I didn't mind

I didn't even realize people taught it in schools as fact. I went to, the first five years of my life, a Catholic school and even then it wasn't taught as fact. This was in France though and they are really big on the separating State stuff from Church stuff.

Would you like to know the true meaning of the separation of church and state?
It isn't keeping the church out of the government.
It's keeping the government out of the church.

THIS!!
If Β religion is allowed to teach, so should evolution! Evolution has more proof than religion, yet they never do! I was taught Christian stuff at school, the bible and god songs that were HILARIOUS. It never had any rasism or homophobic stuff because the teacher was nice and never talked about hell. Though what confused me he said "god loves everyone" and then was talking about Noah's ark (where god wanted to kill everyone). So yea, I never really listened to him.
