Inspired by a bumper sticker I saw on zee interwebz.

I do love poking fun at creationists, I'm sorry

Except that Creationism doesn't even go as far as being a theory. A theory, is something that could be tested in a lab and can be scientifically proven through chemistry and other means. Creationism, on the other hand, can not be tested or tried in a lab no matter what means you had there. So, in fact, it is not even a thory. Closer to a myth.

Still I would like to see something evolve!
Hmm then how come they never said its true.

UTERI In reply to BenjaGirl [2013-12-24 16:21:15 +0000 UTC]

I would still love to see something appear out of nowhere from a man in the sky!

If you want to see an example of evolution go see: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lP3GPH… its actually quite interesting!

And they never said creationism was true either, all we have is a book and a bunch people who believe in it, along with all we have for evolution is DNA, fossils and a bunch for people who believe in it.

Ma'am Creation already happened there will be no man falling from the sky.

UTERI In reply to BenjaGirl [2013-12-24 16:24:53 +0000 UTC]

So did evolution. Along with that evolution does not take a matter of seconds, more of a matter of centuries.  Now when you have solid proof that a man came form the sky, and that the hero shrew thing that I just sent you is bull, then please tell me u w u

Hmm Its called the Bible. But you would not care. And man did not come from the sky, gosh!

UTERI In reply to BenjaGirl [2013-12-24 16:33:03 +0000 UTC]

Thats what I said, a book and a bunch for people that believe in it. And however Adam ad Eve where made, its more probable that something evolved then came out of nowhere.

So you belive that the Twilight saga really happened? It's written down after all.

Nekromanda In reply to ??? [2013-11-26 04:04:58 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it is "just" a theory. A scientific theory is something that summarizes a hypothesis or a group of hypotheses that have been supported with repeated testing. That means, it has evidence to back it up, it has been tested, the results can be recreated.  It is a valid explanation of how life came to be as it is on earth.

Creationism is written down, sure. But it hasn't been tested. It can't be supported with repeated testing. There is no conclusive evidence to support Creationism as the explanation for how life came to be as it is.

If you've got any questions please don't hesitate to ask!

You do know gravity is a theory?

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Nekromanda In reply to BenjaGirl [2013-11-27 13:53:14 +0000 UTC]

Well, because the evidence supports it.  Again, a scientific theory is not just a guess or a random idea -- it's something that is supported by evidence. A scientific theory has been tested  repeatedly and the results of those tests can be recreated.

This short video explains it so much better than I can. Please check it out! YouTube Video: What is a Scientific Theory?

Thanks!

I'm sorry you weren't able to learn very much about evolution in school! The good news though is that you are certainly able to learn more about it now if you haven't already!

A good place to start would be Evolution 101 . Happy reading!

I actually believe in both. Don't want to be taught about creationism in science class though, that should be something I would study in religion class.

Nekromanda In reply to RensMeerkat [2013-11-17 13:05:16 +0000 UTC]

What would be your argument/evidence to support belief in creationism (alongside evolution, I mean)?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RensMeerkat In reply to Nekromanda [2013-11-17 13:54:33 +0000 UTC]

Even if biological life did originate with a single celled organism somehow, I always wondered how that single celled organism came to be in the first place without some sort of supernatural intervention. True, one could always ask how God came to be in the first place. Christians believe that God was always here, that he never had a beginning; complicated and you're head could potently explode form trying to understand it. But maybe some things aren't supposed to be understood and that's where "faith" comes in. I'm not saying this is any sort of "prof", just my opinion and personal beliefs.  A LOT of Christians seemed to get really ticked off when the concept of evolution is brought up because they think that suddenly disproves the existence of God somehow. I never understood that. If you ask me, evolution neither proves nor disproves the existence of God.

RemoratheCat In reply to ??? [2013-08-25 11:48:25 +0000 UTC]

This is horrible, why should everyone have to learn about one theory and not learn about the other? Just because you believe in evolution doesn't mean everyone should learn about that and not another side to the story. You're so offensive to people with religions, it's just their opinion of what to believe, get over it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nekromanda In reply to RemoratheCat [2013-09-01 01:01:09 +0000 UTC]

Because creationism is not a theory. It's a hypothesis.  In order for it to be considered a theory, it must be a well-substantiated explanation supported by scientific evidence and that has been tested using the scientific method.  Creationism does not have any scientific evidence to back it up, and it cannot be tested using the scientific method. Thus, it does not belong in a scientific classroom.

If you want to teach your kids all about creationism, you're more than welcome to do it -- in Church or at home.  Not in the science classrooms.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RemoratheCat In reply to Nekromanda [2013-09-02 21:09:55 +0000 UTC]

You thinking it's not a theory is not my point at all. And you said on your stamp 'don't teach evolution in classrooms', not 'science clasrooms'. I was referring to RE classrooms, obviously -_-

Science classrooms are not the only classroom in the school duh.

and school is not all just for science and the 'hypothesis' of evolution

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nekromanda In reply to RemoratheCat [2013-09-03 01:33:09 +0000 UTC]

Well, considering the debate is based on whether or not it's okay to include creationism in science classes 99.99999% of the time, I figured that was what you were getting at. Unfortunately it seems like you don't understand the concept of context.  That said, if someone wants to cover creationism in a religious studies class, I'm totally fine with that.  The reason this stamp exists is because people try to shove it into science classrooms as an "alternative theory," which it is not.

teach both in separate subjects. i expect this is what schools do anyway, but we have a right to choose our religion, but we certainly can't do that if we're not learning both creationism and evolution.

Oh I feel for you friend! ;-; I just think that it'd be better for everyone if you get to CHOOSE what you sing, or even what you believe in. It'd be much easier that way.

SeraphimBeatz In reply to King-Kirby [2013-09-07 21:10:18 +0000 UTC]

Yes it would be, but even in a country where you supposedly have Freedom of Religion, or choice in general you don't really get to practice that right until you are a legal adult. Quite sad. D:

It'll probably be a long time before society actually gets people to stop shoving each others religions down our throats...

King-Kirby In reply to SeraphimBeatz [2013-09-07 21:20:12 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I get it. :3 Luckily where I live it doesn't happen often, I was referring to my primary school. x3 But luckily I go to a multi-cultured school now which is awesome! >w< But sometimes when people ask me my religion and I say I don't have one, I'm atheist, people look at me like a just pressed a button to blow up the world. Its not like I go around JUDGING people for what they believe in! Its just annoying because they judge me for MY beliefs when I don't judge them for THEIR beliefs. Why can't we all just ya know, leave it? It doesn't matter.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SeraphimBeatz In reply to King-Kirby [2013-09-07 21:37:03 +0000 UTC]

That is quite awkward XD You're lucky to go to a multi-cultural school! I've always wanted to go to one but chances of that happening now are 0 to none.   But yeah that is unfair. I don't judge people for their beliefs...Well unless they say something absolutely ignorant. But they judge me instantly. So UNFAIR

asdfgh I KNOW!! And I'm really sorry you don't go to a multi-cultural school! D: I mean we still get judged but they're so many different religions that nobody cares. In MY family, My mum is a Buddhist, and my dad is a Christian. My step-dad and brothers are atheist like me.

i know ;A;

yeah, same. and i swear they were the worst songs. we had to sing them every day. then these old people came in on tuesdays and read stories from the bible and they got the whole school involved. like they would have one sign saying some weird thing and they'd say before "OK, WHEN WE HOLD THIS SIGN YOU HAVE TO GO FUCK YOURSELF" and they would keep holding the sign up until everyone did it

memories

cries
