Prostitution - the world's oldest profession. Amirite?
Decriminalizing the sex industry would create safer conditions for the workers. Legalizing it would protect people in the sex industry from violence and abuse. It would be taxable. More money for the government. Puts law enforcement resources to better uses.Template: [link]

I took a few health classes in highschool and middle school, but not a sex-ed class. I felt like I had received sufficient information from my health classes over the years. I remember learning that Abstinence was both the only 100% effective option and the least practiced, and that pulling out is one of the most practiced and one of the least effective, since if even one drop of semen gets in there, that's still billons of sperm. I learned that the proper way to put on a condom is to pinch the tip (to give the sperm somewhere to go) and roll it on during a full erection. I learned that one should avoid this one type of condom, since it has tiny pores. I learned all about the different STDs. That there are two types of herpes, but only one is actually a sexual disease. I learned that the H.I.V. is only spread through certain bodily fluids. I learned many things in the sex segments of my health classes.

Prostitution should stay illegal in the United States. STD'S and HIV spread easily by prostitution. And it attracts rapists, gangs, and unwanted thugs. I do not want it in my neighborhood! People should get a real job and a real career that contributes good things to society.

I kind of agree with that because, if women (or men.) chose to sleep with people for money, who should stop them? It's their choice if they want to do that.

I'm atheist, but I am both a conservative and a feminist. Should we legalize prostitution? Sexual reproduction is a SERIOUS topic involving world population, having a child, STDs and more. Sex is part of nature and it should NOT be a financial occupation. And the human body is NOT sexual property.

Most prostitutes are owned by this guy .
You might get diseases.

Honestly. Wanting Prostitution legal is asinine. You all have such little reasoning for legalizing it. While there are little benefits too it, legalizing prostitution will do more harm than good.

1 It's her body
2 porn is legalized
3 make sex industry safer (Yeah right)
4 it will protect people from abuse and violence
5 more money for the government
6 no overcrowded jails

People should have a right to decide over their own bodies and prostitution should be legal as long as no one is hurt, in danger or forced to do anything. But I wish no one would end up to this just so they could live (for example, many students become prostitutes only because they don't get support, can not find other job etc. to get money to live or pay for studies).
Of course legalizing would make working easier and safer, but there's one certain point why many sexworker do not want: Illegalness and risks are good excuse to keep high price. Most probably they also should pay a tax.
There's so much to say about this topic, but I don't want to write too much. I support and that's it.

Well, a professor at Northeastern State University wrote that if prostitution were legalized in the US, the rape rate would be estimated to decrease by roughly 25% (25,000-ish rapes per year). ("Prostitution and Sex Crimes," April 8 2004)
It also might be worth pointing out that in Queensland, Australia, there was a study that showed a 149% increase in the rate of rape after legal brothels were closed in 1959.
In all I think that it's not too far fetched to imagine that general rates of rape would decrease slightly.
