Yeah, but you didn't address my biggest concern, which was the whole sending people to hell for not following his teachings. People can be moral, upstanding citizens without religion. A lack of religion is not a lack of morals.

Again: God didn't send Moses or David to hell for their mistakes. (they made BIG mistakes)

I know that, but you aren't addressing why he would throw people into hell if they don't believe in him? If it has to do with morals, you don't need religion to have them.

Why don't you go and read about what Moses and David did.

I know what happened. David lusted after a woman who wasn't his life and he murdered her husband/lover (I don't quite remember which). As for Moses, he lost his temper, and I think he killed someone? Still, you are not addressing why people will go to hell for something as petty as not worshiping God, since Heaven is only for his followers.

I have read it. My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I have read it. And from my informed, thought-out decision, I decided that religion was not worth it, full of lies, and led by a hateful god.

Actually, that's you. I just gave you several reasons why your wrong, and called out you taking things out of context, and asked you to become more aware of the Bible before continuing.
You ignored all of it and refused to look at what the Bible actually says.

I'm an atheist myself, but I wondered about this a lot. This supposed "God" did things that seemed a lot worse than what I've heard the Bible actually states "Satan" did. This Satan actually seems/seemed to be a more open-hearted, open-minded, pacifistic character than this God is/was. I mean, let's look at the "facts":
God Apparently:
--------------------
-Killed millions
-Rejected/Rejects anyone who didn't/doesn't follow him
-Demanded/Demands tithes and prayer and sacrifice
-Didn't want humans to be sapient in the first place
-"Protected" his people by throwing plagues and things at their captors, rather than preventing them from being taken in the first place
Satan Apparently:
----------------------
-Killed fewer than 20 people (10 as part of a bet with God)
-Accepted/Accepts basically everyone
-Demanded/demands practically nothing for himself
-Encouraged human independence
...What about this Satan guy is so bad? As I stated, I'm an atheist, but if I DID believe... I'd probably be following this Satan character. Thanks for making this stamp.

My friend who is a satianst actually told me about her religion at lunch one day because we were bored and its not what people think. You can go to a christian church out of respect for the religion and god, they believe if you are good you get good and bad is bad. Theres actually two parts to hell, one were you are punished for being bad and a place were people who were rejected by god (ex gays and people of other religion) are sent to live happily and do whatever they want. But God rejects people for what they love and feel even though hes suppose to be loving to everyone. weird uh?

TheAntsaBoy94 In reply to Blackestfang [2014-04-17 09:12:16 +0000 UTC]
its not what people think
*not always (and the same can be said of pretty much every religion ever)
ex gays
Huh? God rejects people who used to be gay? I'd think, that a satanist would claim God to reject gay people precisely (which He, btw, does not), but okay.
weird uh?
Not at all. His immeasurable love towards humanbeings is the reason preciely of why He wants us to change for the better (well, according to the Bible, anyway). It's not like He dislikes "bad" people and wishes them to change so that He could like them as well. I mean, what kind of utter jerk would do something like that?

Blackestfang In reply to TheAntsaBoy94 [2014-04-17 10:23:22 +0000 UTC]
His love? then care t explain why he encourages people to kill others for minor things like working on the Sabbath? People should have to change for him, people should be accepted for who they are. Ex means example so it was Example gays and other religions. Being Gay is not bad like Christians like to think, it is harmless and should not be punished

How typical, do one thing some people finds morally questionable and people will forget everything good one has ever done. -__- Seriously though, I can see what you're getting there at, but as the Bible itself says "Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by its fruit.". The culture and relationship between God and humans were really different than how things are now, after Jesus' sacrifice and the arrival of Holy Spirit. Therefore it is at least fair to say that comparing those strict rules directly to "modern day standards" is not appropriate. What you should do instead, in case you want to form a proper views of the Bible in a fair manner, is to look more into other, more easily to understandable matters, like the Gospel. It's the very core of the Bible anyway.
People should have to change for him
*change for the greater good. When people change for Him, they change for themselfs and others as well, for God is Love and Justice, who loves us people despite our faults. It is said in the Bible. See, you're doing it again, guestioning Biblical God's love for nothing.
Well, whetever homosexuality is harmless or not is a matter of belief. That's for sure.

Two parts of Hell? Hm. Interesting.
I always wondered why people who were good of heart still got sent to Hell just because they did not believe in God/were gay/etc.
I mean, shouldn't that sort of concept be judged based on who you are and not for what you follow? That never made any sense to me.

There was the Gnostic believes about two Gods, one was a jerk (the Theurge maybe) and the 'true' one - some form of Theistic Satanism seems to have run with it, makign Satan the real and good ( or nicer) God. Hum.

This is basically why I'm an anti-theist (and LaVey-ian Satanist). The God of the Abrahamic religions is basically a slavedriver who deserves no praise, can't just let us live our lives, and instead punishes us exceedingly harshly for the slightest infractions. In essence, religion = fascism.

The God in the bible is pretty much a bad guy. And the bible does have some pretty bad things in it. I mean come on. One of the Ten Commandments is 'Thou shall not murder' and yet in the bible murder is justified. I kid you not, I found the bible verses.
However, I can say I believe in God. I just do not believe the one who exists in the bibles terms. I just believe that he created the universe and then just left it how it is, with no interference. And everything that has been created (ex. Homosexuality, Birth Control, ect.) he thought of on purpose pre-creation. I doubt he would send us to Hell for it.
Disagree with me all you want, but this is just what I believe.

and yet in the bible murder is justified
Ever herd of "Expectation confirms the rule"? Although you're free to argue that some particular murder, not just mentioned, but actually justified, in the Bible is morally wrong.
just left how it is doubt he would send us to Hell for it
I, for one, find the idea weird, that that he would create the universe, left things how they are without any interferences, and yet still to care enough to punish people with hell.
And given the fact you belive he created and designed everything, what did he do that for? What sort of meaning of live does such a belief offer to you? What does it mean?

Yeah, really. I bet everyone has broken at least one rule, even the ones who shove the bible down your throat(not literally of course haha). Basically, according to the bible, we are all going to hell.
