So full of life!
What a vibrant building. I like how you left the negative space of sky fully around the gable. The cloud and tree are balancing. Id be all over that like white on rice with my cam. This building is dream-like. Shoot more!

Thank you for such a thought-out comment!

I would love to shoot more with this building, though a few problems arise with that thought. The first being that it is 70 miles away, and the fastest speed limit on that route is 35mph. The second, I selectively took this shot around all the tape preventing anyone from going near that building, this was the closest I could get as it was 'condemned' for being an unstable structure. If I could go into that building, I would spend a couple weekends down there just shooting it, and from what I could see of the inside, it also looks like the perfect place for 'ortfolio' shots some of the models I shoot have been requesting. Sadly, we can't enter, and that is the most 'alive' building I have seen on this island with my months of exploration of every crevice I could find. Though, I may go back there and see if I can't get past all the old men guarding it (as it is by a retirement home) and take some from a different angle on a sunny day. ^^

wow great shot! one of your best! the colours sometimes a tiny bit too full on, but nice job! id take advantage of this old building if i were you

Hmm, seems to saturated? That is the only downside of doing HDR on pictures that involve grass - because it is exceptionally green without the need for the higher range already. lol. Hmm, take advantage of the old building how?

go back and take many more shots of it... that is taking advantage of it go inside!! explore!! drag a girl there and make her model for you! drag a guy there and make him model for you! its an awesome oppertuinty for a setting!

nemisis11 In reply to katherineamelia [2007-06-14 10:01:16 +0000 UTC]

I wish that I could! It was all blocked off by police tape for being a dangerous area though, and near a retirement home so I would get caught. (And where would I find a girl to drag in there? lol)

hahaha im sure you know many girls you could drag in there for a photo shoot, trust me, if you tell them they'd make a great model for some project your doing, they will come running... i think the idea of modelling makes girls feel special and beautiful... so im sure you wouldnt have a problem

I like the HDR treatment. If it was not HDR I think it would just be kinda flat. Good idea. What do you use for your HDR?

nemisis11 In reply to wafox [2007-05-24 04:50:20 +0000 UTC]

My first HDR didn't turn out very well. It was the Millilani Theater. I have it up on my page soley because it was my first HDR and was done with PS CS2. For my current HDR shots, I use photomatix. ^^

I really like this! I have to say, I would personally tune down the saturation a tad, so it's a little more realistic (the grass is just a bit too green) but other than that, awesome! Great find with the location

I rather like the green though! (and the grass really was pretty green; damn Hawaii, always too colourful. lol)

Thank you! I was playing around with different styles of the border and now it's a template of sorts. Glad it goes over well!

...now what do you think of the photo itself? lol

mattioli13 In reply to nemisis11 [2007-05-21 22:02:07 +0000 UTC]

I thought everyone else pretty much covered the photo....but like always, I comment on the best of the group....this one has "more to it" than the others.... Of course the colors and the neon blue sky with white puffy clouds almost make for a signature of your work....which I hate you for.... Cant even look at the sky here....without getting dirt in your eyes....thats before they melt from the sockets......lol

hehe - what do you think of buildings at night light only by small exterior lighting? ^^ (and idea I may try tomorrow. )

bnthatfield In reply to nemisis11 [2007-05-27 14:07:09 +0000 UTC]

That would be awesome!!! Depending on where you focus on the building and where the lighting is.. but I have no doubt you will do great at it!!!

Still looking for a canidate for this shot.. hehe. I think I may have found a factory that will work - but it was far off from the freeway, so I just have to figure out how to get there on side-roads now. lol.

Have fun... Those side roads can really get ya but you never know you might find something else on one of those roads!!!
