Times (Live):
Weekday - starts between 4PM and 6PM and lasts 1 to 2 hours.

Today: I decided to take a break from coding and focus solely on map work. There is still 2 outdoor maps I need for release of version 1.0 and I thought I'd get at least one of them done.

The map is a Rathmore Road (a road map - pokemon call them "routes" ). It's to the right of the starter town and leads to the first big city. It will be blocked off to begin with though.
The map itself is 65 by 65 tiles. You can see how I made it in an offline video (a recording from todays stream) from the link above.

NOTE: Map shot from Tiled (mapping software) - NOT TAKEN FROM IN-GAME.

Looking really good, now my only issue is the shadows being odd. Some things make the light from above(lamp posts and traffic lights), the house has the light coming from the top left, some trees have the light coming from behind (the top of the pic) other have the light coming from the front (the tiny trees) and others have the light coming from directly above... once you have the shadows consistent, im sure that you'll have as close to perfect maps as possible

Cheers man. I thought me and you chatted about those shadows before right?
Shadows is something we made very generic about mid way through the project. We were aware of conflicting light sources the shadows showcased. It was just something we ran with was to put circle shadows under objects like trees and lamps, but that slanted shadows under houses.
It's something I'll certainly look into after release as an update.

love the graphics style, light sources for the shadows are a bit off, what i mean is the shadows for the house and rocks/cliff are offset, whereas the shadows for everything else are directly central.

Though with it all looking so good that's a tiny fault, what is the gameplay of this? it looks a lot like pokemon (the house is doing that)

Thanks for the comment man. Our shadows are our biggest weakness. Originally, each object had it's own shadow, but the tileset was maxed out (in terms of space) and corners needed to be cut. But I 100% agree with your comment and you are correct. It was just a decision of mine.
Funny thing is, that decision of removing shadows to make space on the tilesets was made early in development and I have code in place that the engine can load as many tilesets it wants per map lol. Maybe AFTER release as an update I'll revamp the shadows
