beautifully rendered as always!
although, I do wish she was also black, like how the character is supposed to.

To ascend the Black Panther from a mere title used by one person, to a symbol shared by many heroes, all future Black Panthers wouldn't be of the same race and have the same skin color.

Everything is true to the characters originality except their ethnicity what a surprise.

The Black Panther Legacy is a sacred tradition of the Wakandan people. Yes I understand that this is deviantart and you can make whatever as an artist but, To change the ethnic origin of one of the FEW and most iconic black comic book characters but keep the same traditional African culture in the design, that can be insulting. Lets say there were only a few white characters and Hawkeye or Captain Marvel was one of them. If the majority characters are already black or of color then you change this one of a few white characters into another black character, its gonna be insulting to the people who look up to and appreciate that character because he/she represents those people when those people hardly have anywhere near as much representation in the comicbook world. But its fine either way because we see what the actual MCU movie is bringing!

I have and I understand what you mean...doesn't mean I agree. Lol even if the character T'challa was a real person or the Wakandans were real, THEY wouldn't agree. But I do understand the nobility and sharing aspect behind your words.

If they wouldn't agree, then the Black Panther is not a hero. Just another worthless leader with one goal in mind and no thoughts beyond that.

Fair opinion but if you understand The Black Panther. He starts out as the Protector and Leader of his Nation. He is not an ideal "hero" to begin with. Simply a superpowered ruler of an African nation. But later down the line he joins up with other world heroes and even joins the Illuminati which protects the entire world as an overseeing organization. If thats not heroic then tell me what is. But just as much as he is willing to help the world and defend it, he is willing to protect and defend his homeland, Wakanda. Just because a character protects and defends their traditions and customs first doesn't mean they can't BE a hero. But if you go by definition, The Black Panther is in fact an Anti-hero because he is willing to kill whoever is necessary for the good of the World and the Wakandan nation!

If he is willing to kill innocent people, then he cannot be called any kind of a hero.

Lycat18 In reply to Tasorius2 [2017-10-25 20:07:48 +0000 UTC]

Tf I said if necessary no one said anything about any innocent people. He kills villains and enemies an Anti-hero unlike other heroes who refuse to kill anyone good or bad.

I just made an "if" statement
And there are countless of examples of heroes who don't kill the villains, and in the end the villains get out and do more damage.
Not killing them is not what makes them heroes. I don't agree with the concept of anti-heroes. At least not if they are called that for killing the villains who will just keep doing terrible things.

Lycat18 In reply to Tasorius2 [2017-10-25 20:20:29 +0000 UTC]

Okay see I can agree with that I dont think a real hero would let the villain have the chance to go out and do more damage either. But I was going by the actual definition of Hero and Anti-hero in comics. Its funny people like Batman who have let their villain escape and kill again and again are called heroes but if you kill every villain you are labeled Anti-hero or Vigilante.

That's why I prefer the Batman who killed the Joker, though it was when he was older and understood that letting the Joker live made him a murderer too...

These people getting upset over the character looking white is hilarious. Same people probably cheer for any super hero being changed from white to a minority. You know because diversity of groups > individuality, these people care more about race, gender, sexuality than they do things like personality, beliefs, ideals, ect.

Dexxithea In reply to jessedean64 [2017-10-24 04:03:23 +0000 UTC]

Well the Black Panther title goes hand in hand with being Wakandan royalty, and the royal family is all native Wakandan, thus they would all be black. It's an integral part of the character, one of the first major black superheroes created during the civil rights era. Representation was – and still is – incredibly important in American media.

When people talk about "diversifying" roles like Spider-Man, that's much different. An American teenager living in NYC could be played by anyone, since it's a diverse city in a diverse country, and the character is not inherently linked to whiteness (or any race for that matter). When there are a disproportionate amount of white characters/portrayals in film, TV, comics, etc., it's at best boring and at worst marginalizing.

The female gender swap of this character should be depicted and portrayed as Black. This is a non-Black female Black Panther. I mean clearly, if someone were to depict the little Mermaid, or Cinderella, or Belle in gender swap they wouldn't darken their skin because they have always been portrayed as fair skin women so it would be natural to depict them as fair skin men. Someone needs to make ethnic swaps of the Disney Princesses. I would love to see that. Then cue all the butt hurt assholes who whine and don't want their fair skin princesses to be darker or have ethnically diverse features. EXACTLY! Don't do it to our very few and far between Black superheroes then!

"Oh don't bring negativity in here", "Don't bring world issues here", "She does look Black", "Maybe she's just a light skin Black person", "Stop making this about race", "She doesn't have to look charcoal Black". Listen, fuck you. The problem is letting things like this seem insignificant in the fight against whitewashing Black characters, even their gender swaps. Deviantart and everyone who posts on deviantart is a part of the world, did you not know that? Do you honestly think dA does not cultivate there own cesspool of racism and whitewashing? You need to mature up and look around you. The world, the Internet, your workplace, school will never be places where race relations and racial politics don't show up and "mess up" your day. White people simply don't understand color or race when it comes to their lives because they have been conditioned to believe that Black people are their own problem and live in a society where they are placed on a pedestal and every other race that is not white or fair skin is considered below them.

BUT OH! It's just fan art. *eyeroll*

Tasorius2 In reply to BlackVinyl [2017-10-25 18:47:31 +0000 UTC]

You are extremely hypocritical.
You hate black characters being portrayed as white (or a completely different character is wearing the costume that a black character originally wore) but you love the opposite.

No matter what context you say the racist words "White people simply don't understand color or race", you are just wrong, and you are a part of the problem.

Personally, I don't like race swaps of original characters, no matter which was the original race, but this could just be a different character wearing that costume, and if you used your brain a little, you could see it as a sign of a future where the Black Panthers have realized that one hero is not enough, and that if you can make an army of heroes, you should do it, because it will save more people, and be a symbol of more than one good cause.
If you can support all good causes, you must do so, as a true hero.
