I honestly think Jay is really close to Zane, seeing as the things they did for each other. (Like in the first episode where Zane translated Jay for Nya, and then in this episode)

The others were too afraid to move, and they also understood they couldn't do anything about it. Jay panicked. He couldn't understand that he couldn't do anything. The situation was too stressful for him so he rushed forward, and sensei had to hold him back so Jay wouldn't get himself killed too.
