Random thing I did.It's my 2nd attempt at The King of Fighters' style and shading it was heck!
But I feel like I've learned a lot just doing this.
Design changed a bit during the transition because some things kinda didn't make sense in a more realistic style(even though he's a giant, walking, talking, venus fly trap in a suit but whatever).

Making art isn't really a gifted talent, but a skill you can learn like any other. Especially true for Pixel Art.

Looks like it could actually appear in a Mario game. The genre would difficult to find, maybe Paper Mario or M&L, because it's a little too detailed for their usual standards, but I can still imagine it somewhere.

Yeah, these kinds of character designs usually show up in the RPG games.
But there has been a few interesting designs somewhat like this one in the earlier Mario Party games, like 6th and 8th ones.

Yes! To me, many designs and concepts, even though they can super good, doesn't usually catch my eye because I've seen so much of it before.
So I like seeing things put together in ways I've rarely seen before, to the point where I actually have to stop and think for a second lol
