Description As requested, another popular character from
"The last temptation" Era, also known as the Showman.

What to say about this Alice's personality?
He's manipulative, condescending, the one pulling the strings, a perfect pupeteer, sly.
He knows your hearts desire, offering you a deal you simply can't refuse...

Recommended listening: "Nothing's free"

1) I tried not to copy Zulli, but it was difficult, since the drawings from the comic add so much to this Alice character. I hope I managed to find a compromise and give the Showman my own unique touch.
Anyway, check out comic book "The last temptation" the drawings are just wonderful.

2) No, it's not supposed to be a human skull, the size is alright!

And I started my big yearly countdown today. One month until I see Alice again!

Lucky you. Unfortunately I've no possibility to get to Montreaux as much as I'd love to.
Enjoy the concert and tell me all about it. If he's doing the programm of the new tour for the festival you'll be one of the first see it!

And Lush has so nice senting things , lol, something would work for him.

No he doesn't the new tour set will only start in December. So it will be a year or so until I can finally see it! I wish I could go to see him in the UK but it won't be feasible this year. I don't really mind, just being there and seeing Alice is all I want. I am just horribly nervous not nowing if I can be in the front. "Die Aertzte" are playing after Alice and it will be packed with "non-Alice fans" who will want to be there too. It's annoying when people are in the front who are not real fans, but we'll see.

Shame, I was really hoping somebody might get a glimpse at the new concept - but I guess he'll at least play one or two songs from the new album. He did 'Vengence is mine' and 'Your Feminine Side' last winter in Germany and he might want advertise some of the new stuff again.

Anyway, for me that sounds great, I like "Die Γ„rzte" and it's said that they are a great live band but I've never seen them on stage. So I'd actually have two reasons trying to get to the front.

I'm not sure I can stand for that long. There's a third act opening first, so the whole thing will last up to 7 hours I guess!
And after Alice I have no energy left. But I guess I'll hang around, I am sleeping there and don't need to worry about driving home for once.

Nephtis In reply to dragonladych [2009-06-09 09:56:39 +0000 UTC]

*lol* You know how that sounds?
Is he putting you through your paces, exhausting you?

Granted he only has got to do a single show himself, but he has a few years on you. If he can without slowing down, maybe you'll manage as well.
But you're correct that is a long time for standing (and jumping and dancing I assume) around. It will be a well earned muscle soreness and you'll sleep all the better for it.

I've never been very healthy. But I am now much healthier than 20 years ago. As of now, no more pain or other ailements. Only that I have very low blood pressure and I tire fast. And faint when I do. I doubt I will ever have the kind of energy Alice has especially in 20 years when I'll be his age!
After giving it all at a concert, I am usually literally shaking with fatigue and need to rest a bit before moving on. Guess it's also emotional and the adrenalin withdrawal LOL

Nephtis In reply to dragonladych [2009-06-09 11:58:41 +0000 UTC]

Great to hear that you're doing better, being in pain is never good.

*ggg* There are only two things I'll never ever forget again: 1) Wear a pair of comfortable, solid boots not matter what that looks like with your chosen outfit
and
2) Eat something before a concert or at least have some dextrose on me if I plan to be in a crowd for a long time.

I managed to faint at a Meat Loaf concert (no, it was not the man doing it to me, I promise, I just had skipped lunch and didn't expect to miss dinner due to the concert).
Anyway, I found myself enjoying the last 3 songs from behind the stage in a first-aid room being fed some sweets.

Some people will do whatever it takes to get backstage.

But I'd really be angry if that would happen to me again. Usually I'm not a crowd person but for an Alice concert that's the place to be.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

dragonladych In reply to Nephtis [2009-06-09 17:01:40 +0000 UTC]

I know how that is! I always make sure to eat something light, a heavy meal is never a goos idea if you want to be energetic LOL. And I try to drink enough during the day... but nothing in the three hours before the concert... takes a lot of preparing these things!
I think the main stress for me is that I also don't like crowds, quite the opposite. But for Alice I'd do anything

I keep meaning to find something cool to wear, but in the end I always opt for something confortable. Last time in Montreux was one of the few times I wasn't wearing a simple t-shirt... and that had to be caught for posterity! LOL

What does it say about me, that I actually had to google the man? And that I did?
No, no, you're right, Alice is fine the way he is, and hey looking is alright, no harm done.

So you're one of the unfortunate girls the Showman has in his thrall (can one put it that way? Sounds strange). Luckily he's one of the variants I seem to be partially immune to.
Somehow the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about him is that he probably smells like old books (not a bad smell, I like being in old libraries, but it's rather strange to associate a smell with a character...)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

HellsComingWithMe In reply to Nephtis [2009-03-26 21:29:25 +0000 UTC]

Man, the only reason I know about him is because the classic rock station I listen to was making fun of their videos, and how the lead singer was always hidden behind Pete, because Pete's the cute one.

THAT'S JUST WRONG, DAMMIT.

And for the record, music was a lot better when you didn't have to be size 0 and perfect to be a musician. ><

And ohgodohgodohgod, I love the Showman. But I don't know, man, none of Alice's incarnations have ever really come across as threatening/domineering to me. Maybe if I could, you know, stop staring at his crotch. I mean, I've heard that he has LOVELY eyes...

Actually... I like the smell of old books too. But how on earth did you end up with that association? *curious*

And ever since he talked about Tag chocolate body spray on his show, that's the scent I've been associating him with. It cracks me up, too, watching him go around, sneering, just doing his thing, all badass and in character, and just have somebody randomly tell him how GOOD he smells, like candy. <3

...god, I'm stoned today.

Nephtis In reply to HellsComingWithMe [2009-03-26 21:57:11 +0000 UTC]

Chocolate body spray on Alice...? *rofl* That's a hilarious idea but thanks, no, I had a chocolate shower gel once, always made me hungry.
Come to think of it... maybe that's not so bad a combination after all...

*stares into space and ponders the sort of cravings that might cause*

Ah, no...

A friend of mine had a vanilla body spray that she used until the day a teacher asked her if she was using waffles for insoles...

HellsComingWithMe In reply to Nephtis [2009-03-26 22:57:36 +0000 UTC]

I LOVE VANILLA BODY SPRAY.

Now I'm metally doing a run-through of the different Bath and Body Works lotions and applying them to Alice's badassery.

I'm cracking myself up over here. Excuse me for a second.

Don't know how that association came about, it's one of those things that suddenly hit you and you have no idea where they come from.

Btw, I can confirm the rumour about the eyes so you might want to let your eyes stray a bit.

And for the record, I think he can pull off domineering just fine for me - and has a threatening growl n' scowl going for him. But somehow even at his most bad-ass he hints that he *can* be hurt.
And I like that!
Strong enough to be occasionally weak.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

HellsComingWithMe In reply to Nephtis [2009-03-27 05:24:24 +0000 UTC]

Kind of like how I was delirious with fever for about a week, and I suddenly come to associate Warran's "Cherry Pie" with the Joker?

...yeah, I don't know where that one came from either. But I'm blaming the fever.

And, god, I don't know why, maybe its just because I'm so ghetto, but I feel like I could take him in a fight. (Man, I have SUCH issues.) I still love the whole villian thing, and I'd even let him rough me up, just so long as he knows that, you know, I'm giving at LEAST some of it back. (...ISSUES.)

I think it's some of his softer moments that really made me love him, though, come to think of it. When I was a toddler, I was scared to death of him, (oh irony,) but I wanted to hear "You and Me" before I went to bed at night, and usually kind of crooned it to myself when I was upset.

...I don't know what happened since then, but still.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nephtis In reply to HellsComingWithMe [2009-03-27 07:03:41 +0000 UTC]

You're so right, if you want and do dish out, you've got to be able to take some too. It's only fair.
Personally, I like the idea of starting out as equals and see who ends up on top in a sitution, so I can totally relate to your idea of giving back some!
And by the way, I'm not sure it's the softer side or vulnerability that occasionally shows and seems to be part of the character that I makes me think about this. Who knows?

Maybe both. As far as soft songs go, yeah, I like a fair share of those too, and even my mom likes "You and Me" and she usually avoids Alice Cooper and 'that wild stuff'.

A temporary favorite of mine right now is "Wake me gently" I just like the way he starts to babble towards the end, sounding really scared...

I think I need to add a scared Alice to my list of things-to-do!

For me it's not just the soft things, I like the .

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

HellsComingWithMe In reply to Nephtis [2009-03-27 09:29:59 +0000 UTC]

oooooh freak I had about a week there where I would just sit and listen to "Wake Me Gently" over and over again on my 'od. That ending just rips at me. Just... guuuhh... makes me want to cry.

Then my friend pipes in with the distinctly unhelpful "sounds like he's being raped," and then I just feel TERRIBLE. AUUUGH THANKS DUDE.

I want to give him a hug.

Man, you totally should do Scared!Alice. I'd get such a lady-boner for that.

Also, if it makes you feel ANY better, my mom once asked me why Alice only sings about the devil. It was one of those moments where I just had to look up and go, "..really? Did you listen to the lyrics, or do you just think you did?"

FFFFF.

Oh well. It can wait.

ANYWAYS, ANYWAYS, I would totally suggest straight-jacket, broken up and stuff, because he has some very poignant moments in that thing. Plus he was clearly abused while in it, so you know... it wouldn't be that far-fetched.

Of course, you could always do one of his other outfits, just that one kinda jumped out at me.
