Description
Another art project. The Assignment: Take a famous work of art and using/following/influenced by its style or concept and create an advertisement.
My Concept: Take Botticelli's 'Birth of Venus' and create an ad for laptops. The result was as followed.
It took a long time and it was a big sheet of paper TT_TT
Plus, I spent 2 classes masking off my pencil crayoned characters with MASKING TAPE and an EXACTO KNIFE.
PS. I still have the penciled drafts if you'd care to see them.
Used: 0.5 mech pencil, Crayola colored pencils, watercolor paper (hence the texture on the pencil crayon), and aquarelle water color paints
Time: Around 2.5 months worth of classes

I had to look up the original painting to see how closely inspired it was. You portrayed the zephyrs and goddess of seasons as angels - far more relevant and comprehensible to the modern masses - and instead of helping and giving to Venus they are trying to take from her. Much more in line with modern marketing!
You get an A.

Yes, yes I did.
And yeah, a lot of other people were going so inside the box, what with using stuff like American Gothic and replacing the pitchfork with a swiffer, using fauvist techniques with color swapping or copping out totally by just using Andy Warhol's infamous Tomato Soup Can . I wanted to be different so I just went for it. Though crazily coincidental, I'd come up with this idea during a hot summer night and laughed to myself when given this project. Insane.

Too big. DX According to Ikea frames, maybe like 20" x 28".
