Description
The first 3 months of the year are the hardest for me, anymore. January 10th is when my dad passed away, February 12th is my dad's birthday, and March 14th is my mom and dad's anniversary. I guess this drawing is my way of coping with that.

I cried a few times while drawing this.

The image of Superman holding Jonathan Kent in his arms is directly inspired by the same image painted by legendary comic book artist, Alex Ross (alex ross superman jonathan - Search Images (bing.com) ).

I'd imagine this universe's version of Clark would be pretty broken up by the loss of Pa Kent. Like most versions, I'd figure this version of Pa Kent would pass away from a heart attack or some kind of natural cause. Something Zack Snyder REALLY missed the point of in Man of Steel (2013). Having Pa Kent die of natural causes is an important plot point in Clark's life because it teaches him that, even as the most powerful being on Earth, there are still forces at play that are beyond his control.

Just to be clear, I'm not expecting MAwSM to kill off Pa Kent so early in the show, if ever. I'm actually fine with the show keeping Pa Kent alive in this universe. There have been plenty of other versions of Superman that have kept both Ma and Pa Kent alive, most notably Bruce Timm's DC Universe with Superman: The Animated Series. But if the show does decide to kill Pa Kent off, I'd like there to be a couple episodes establishing Clark and Pa Kent's father/son relationship building up to it. I also hope the death, itself, is handled in a thoughtful and respectful manner, where Clark undergoes a big, emotional arc about coping with loss, but it also helps him gain emotional strength, giving him motivation for a "villain plot" running parallel to this, with Pa's Kent's being the catalyst to get the plot going, and teaching Clark to keep moving on with his life. As someone who lost his dad only a few years ago, that would mean a lot to me.
