Description It's been a very, very, VERY long time since I've drawn this little yellow guy.

As a kid, I was a HUGE SpongeBob fan and I use to draw SB fan art all the time. However, after a while, the kids in my grade school class started making fun of me because of it. So for nearly a decade, I've kept a low profile and stopped making SB fan art. But now, I decided to do a little throw-back to what inspired my interest in cartoons.

I know I don't draw an incredibley accurate SB portrait, even though most people from my grade school years, as well as my parents, say I do.

I don't watch too much of the newer SB episodes like I use to. I do my best to stay tuned for newer episodes and I still the season DVD releases whenever I come across them (I'm up to Season 6 already). It's just ever since Steve Hillenburg left after the SB movie, the show hasn't been as entertaining to me anymore. However, the airing re-runs of the original series (Seasons 1 through 3) will always be more than welcome.

I haven't seen it personally, but I heard it was pretty good.

The pre-movie seasons were much better. The newer ones have way too many episodes that make me ask "what were they thinking."

Good work, though. He definitely looks "ready."

Yeah, another thing I miss is SpongeBob's catchphrase.Β He never saysΒ "I'm ready!" in the showΒ anymore.
Thanks anyway!

That's true. I wonder why that never crossed my mind before.

How do either of you figure the oftentimes irreverent, anarchic, idiot-driven or mind-screwing qualities during Spongebob's heyday appealed to children back in the day? Or even the occasional mean-spirited moments even then?Β
