WOW THIS TOOK A WHILE
My hand hurts a ton right now, but this is a contest entry for the Scarfox event going on right now! I had just found out about it about a week ago and have spent this past week working on this without much of a break in-between.

I hope my hard work shows, it's habit of a shame I ended up blurring the background cause I spent a while painting it, but that's fine XD

I really love this NPC, as soon as I saw it and the rules for the event I thought it'd be perfect for him to meet Trick!
Trick is an eldritch abomination whom of which also feeds on fear and insanity. Though he prefers to take on the appearance of a jester/clown as he does genuinely want to make friends.

Originally I had Jester looking rather upset that Trick had decided to show his jester looking mug, when I thought about how their food was the same. (not intentionally but it made a lovely coincidence) and how they could bring in Twice the haul for food. After all, sharing is caring. I spent an obnoxious amount of time on this and seeing the other entries inspired me! Everyone was making really gorgeous entries so I hope mine fairs up with everyone elses,there's not much time left in the contest so do get in on it while there's time left!

Also here's a mini prompt of two incarnations of fear meeting up with each other. It's not very long but just a nice add on for it~

  A brisk breeze blew through the carnival, it was more than alive with the light cries of happiness of children. The ambient scarf lingering in the shadows with onyx drool that dripped like mercury along his lips; the very scent of possible fear lingered in the air. How easily he could spook a few of them, but with the increase of such dramatic horror films and their ability to be much more real than any time before, Jester found it hard to actually feed. Children where getting harder to scare and less tangible fears where now present in the world, times have certainly changed since he first came into existence. Jester certainly wanted a rush and just jumping out and scaring them felt too cheap. It wasn't terror and he'd have to do ten times as many of those inane jump scares to get a decent meal. Eventually the kids would catch on as well, he felt as if he couldn't quite win and his stomach was hungry for a buffet. He floated along by the carousel,making himself invisible to the passerby where he could observe them and figure out what exactly he wanted to do.
That's when a sudden flash of light had occurred before him, the soft playing of carnival music had appeared and confetti fell through the air. A strange jester like creature floated down from seemingly no where with a spotlight that somehow existed. A wide grin on his face and blank yellow eyes. The scarf a bit perturbed at first that not only was a being on the same plane as him but with such an entrance as well! He couldn't help but at least applaud his effort, finding it rather amusing to have an entrance so..clowny. But to be fair, was Jester really one to talk?
"It's very nice to meet you,Jester!" Came a beretone-esque voice from the strange being in front of him."The pickings aren't quite as plentiful in this verse is it?" The odd jester chimed, handing over the balloons he floated down with over to the Scarfox.
"you could say that" Jester replied simply and out of reflex before realization set in. "Exactly who are you? I don't recall any other form of spirits in the area? This verse was my territory originally."

The jester looked stunned, the puffballs on his hat popping up in surprise and he gave a genuine giggle before bowing before the scarfox.

"Why pardon me, how rude of me not to introduce myself. My name is Trick,Trick the Jester. It's extremely pleasant to meet you!" Had the jester bore bells you'd think he'd jingle with how happy he spoke. Jester smiled in response,observing the odd person in slight confusion but Trick continued to explain.

"Honestly you think you're the only eldritch abomination of fear in the omniverse? How offensive, you know other people enjoy a good meal of fear as well." The jester made a frown, looking almost offended at the very idea the scarf may have been unaware beings similar to him did indeed exist.

The scarf waved it away, chuckling to himself and giving a pardon. "How dare I,excuse my barbarity." He said in a sarcastic manner. Now of course he had to ask the question that was prodding the back of the scarfoxes mind incessantly. "What exactly has brought you here then if you're aware I'm trying to get a meal? I don't plan on starving any time soon." Jesters tone was slightly sharp, most likely due to the fact of how hungry he was. You're simply just not you when you're hungry after all. Though Trick wasn't offended at all,in fact he was quite happy he asked.

"Thank you for your query," Trick began, " Why what is a being such as my self doing on your holiday? Trying to steal your thunder? Over power you? No,nothing at all like that! In fact,I wanted to help you."

"Help me?" The scarfox echoed.

"Yes! We both feed off fear, and pickings are slow on our own. So,I'd like to propose that for this hallows eve, we work together. Two eldritch abominations bring in twice as many pickings and we could even get creative with it,whaddya say?" The jester was ecstatic at the very idea, smiling widely at the scarfox who's stomach had answered for him. Letting out a loud gratuitous growl, the scarfox holding his stomach in response and giving a wry smile.
"I guess it couldn't hurt."
