Description
This is Xi He. In chinese legend she was the mother of ten suns, one for each day of the week. Everyday she would bathe them in a lake, wrap them up and place them on a mulberry tree. She would then send one out per day, until one day, they were bored and felt mischievous, so they took the journey over the earth together, scourching it.Then they were all shot down, all but one...but that's another story...
So, I'm almost done ripping off Hwa San-chiuen style for chinese ladies. Though I have to confess, it was really nice to shift away from my normal compositions and from my normal palette. I liked being outside my comfort zone! (Next guy might be Erte)
One more chinese ladies piece (I need to make a Christmas present) and I'll move on to something else, I promise.

What a lovely shape her body creates, I love the flow in this picture... and the colours, soft meets strong colours, very nice... this is like eye-candy to me, and its easy to tell when there is a story behind a picture.... it comes alive, its not just a stiff pose.

Beautiful! I absolutely love such 'old-timey' looking paintings. This looks so flowing and colorful. I absolutely love every bit of detail, like the beads and the folds in her scarves. All of the colors are so impressive and vibrant. Lovely work!
