Description I originally didn't like Snorlax much in the days of RBY, but recently it has kinda grown on me.

Custom Snorlax sprites animated in the 4th Generation's battle entrance-style.

Snorlax was always my favorite, and it looks like you did him justice. Something about the lines one his arms and around his mouth look odd when animated, though.

That's because the stretching animation is essentially computer-generated. I explain the method here: [link]

Inevitably, some pixels will be repeated for another row horizontally or vertically because of this. But since the real games also use this method (only with a line of game code that executes the effect in real time rather than individual frames like I've done here), it helps keep the animation in the same style.

So, by custom you mean you made this all yourself from scratch?

In which case, how do you do the vertical scaling without anti-aliasing/texture filtering? Doing it like that definitely keeps the DS look, since it too is incapable of that too, but it seems like all the software I'm familiar with smooths things out whether you want it to or not. Then again, I am very much out of the sprite animation loop.

Yup, all MSPainted from the ground up.

The same stretching effect was done in Paint (Win XP edition) using the default scaling tool. For one frame I would set it to horizontal 95%, vertical 105%. Next frame hor. 90%, ver. 110% and so on and so forth.

Ah, I see. A plan ingenious in its simplicity. And you do it all in MSPaint? I assumed I was already as bare-bones as I could be with Photoshop and ImageReady, I am defeated.
