I did not use the parameters from Flight to get this image
I simply got lucky in Apo when I rendered this image, so yay me 
I'd been looking for a flame to go with Flight for =twodimensions ' contest for a Diptych, and I think I found one
Diptych to be uploaded seperately.

this one is quite reminiscent of a cephilapod. very nice combination of eye-like spheres and frills.

I love the clear look on this and the way it seems to 'grow' but perhaps you should try another gradient as those 'overexposed' areas, so to say, are not very pleasant for the eye.

I did try to mininmize that as much as possible, but this was actually one of the darker gradients; I spent a good hour trying to get the colours just how I wanted them, and even now I'm not entirely happy.
