Nice Tutorial - easy to follow and fun. ^_^ Although I did have odd problems with the shadow bit.

ohh yeah alright.
I made a screenshot and uploaded it. The first picture is without making the blending mode to color dodge, the second is.
Hope I could help

im afraid i dont understand the collision part- could you explain it?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Nestorx In reply to smartalecks [2005-08-27 11:37:14 +0000 UTC]
Yeh, sure:
You must have two planets. you drag one above the other one. Then you make in a new layer this gradient like I described in the tutorial. The colored point has to be at the point where the planets hit themselves, where the collision is. Then you set the gradients blending mode to color dodge, thats all. Hope you understand it although my english isn't good
If you didn't just ask again

1. Have 2 planets, one dragged over the other.
2. Made a new layer for the gradient
3. Used a reflected gradient
it didnt work, maybe I did something wrong.
perhaps you could clarify this more? thx a ton.

Did you set the gradient layer blending mode to "color dodge"?

This is a great tutorial, thanks for making it.
I'm still having a bit of trouble getting mine to work but it'll happen.
Which layer are we supposed to be blending in step 5? I can't get that part to work yet..

thx, and thx for the :fav:
In step 5 the atmosphere layer should be blended (if u don't have one, just make one: new layer, circle, which must have the size od the planet, fill it with black, set layer to screen and add the blending [the layer must be above the color layer
)
hope that helps

i tried it but i made a really shit texture; i think it was just a bad base texture choice and selective colouring on my part it came out all green and light green etc. i'll try again lol
